Chapter 4
Ben
She said yes, I couldn't believe she said yes. When I told my mom that she was my girlfriend it was completely the spare of the moment. Did I think that she would say yes just for a ticket, hell no.
She sighed before saying, "What's next?"
"There is this welcome home dinner that my family is throwing for Muffy and Elijah, my brother, and they want you to be there."
"By family do you just mean you and your parents."
"No I mean all of my family."
Her eyes bugged out of her head. "So what you're telling me is I have to meet more people from your family"
"Well yes, there not that bad...I mean not all of them." I half lied.
"Ben, isn't this a little...far-fetched." She said rubbing her hands on her thighs.
"Well of course it is." I joked.
She groaned not humored by my joke and a look of panic stretched across her face as the door opened to reveal my father.
"Hey Ben your mother told me that the mystery girl was in your bedroom and I had to make sure she was not in her usual drunken state." My father said giving her a bright smile.
I groaned and Afia shifted uncomfortably on the bed.
"Really dad." I said not meeting Afia's gaze.
He placed his hands in his suit pockets and leaned against the door and casually said, "What?" I rolled my eyes. "So I am expecting that she will be attending the dinner for Elijah and Muffy."
"Yeah?" I stated more of as a question.
"Yes of course." She confirmed.
"Perfect, I will let you guys get back to doing whatever you were doing before." He said pushing up off the door and closing it behind him.
"That wasn't so bad." She said letting out a shaky breath
"See, now you just have to do that in front of all my family."
She stared at me a moment before saying, "Why did you fake having a girlfriend when you could have just gotten a real one I mean you are Benjamin Waters the star running back."
It was not like I was shy around girls or had a problem getting girls, it was just I didn't have enough time for one, and I didn't have time to be held in a trophy case. That's all the girls wanted was for me to be a award that screamed 'I am dating a Waters'. So I make the excuse that football was the only thing I needed to be focused on right now.
"I just never had time for one and do people really think I'm the star running back." I grinned.
She smiled and looked down at the covers, "Yeah I mean I wouldn't say star-"
"But you did."
She laughed softly looking at me, "I mean it's like everyone knows you are going to be this legendary football star."
"That actually has a nice ring to it, 'Benjamin Waters the legendary football star.'"
When I said this she laughed even more, I liked to see her smile.

Afia
I was in my car head still dizzy from what the hell I just agreed to. I was Benjamin, the Arlington's Raven's star running back I may add, girlfriend, fake girlfriend. Every fiber in my being was telling me to take my black ass back in that house and tell him your freaking insane and I will not be involved in this potential train wreck of a situation. But the vibrating of my phone said otherwise.
