Chapter 21

The battle between Ash and Calem is starting. Shauna is still at the Nurse's office as the nurse needed her there for some more tests. She was watching the battle on the TV in the Nurse's office. Serena has been dragged to watch the battle, against her will, by Dawn.

Over time, both Ash's and Calem's Pokemon have changed. Some have learnt new moves while others have been swapped out.

We rejoin the battle as Ash has called out Pikachu and Calem decided to go with Chesnaught.

No one's POV

"Alright, this battle will be between Pikachu and Chesnaught. Battle begin!" yelled the referee.

The two trainers didn't waste a second in calling their commands.

"Chesnaught, Earthquake!" yelled Calem.

Chesnaught then summoned seismic waves that violently shook the ground while advancing towards Pikachu.

"Pikachu, use Iron Tail on the ground!" yelled Ash.

Pikachu immediately jumped up into the air and slammed his tail onto the ground, creating his own waves. As the two waves met, they cancelled each other out.

Calem, however, had expected this. This had happened during their first ever battle. Calem had a counter-strategy ready. He then bellowed out his next command.

"Now, Wood Hammer!" he yelled.

Chesnaught immediately grew a giant holographic log on his hand and charged towards Pikachu with immense speed. Both Ash and Pikachu were caught off guard by Chesnaught's speed. Even though Chesnaughts are known to be quite slow, Calem had trained his well. It was incredibly quick.

Right now, it was barreling towards Pikachu like a tank. Ash panicked slightly and did the first thing he could think of... and attacked head on.

"Pikachu, Volt Tackle!" he yelled.

Pikachu completely trusted Ash's decision and charged towards Chesnaught as a thick veil of yellow electricity surrounded it. He charged with full power.

Moments later, the two Pokemon made contact. As soon as that happened, a massive burst of energy was released in the form of a shockwave. This threw up a lot of dust into the air completely surrounding the two Pokemon.

The whole stadium went quiet, awaiting the result of the collision.

Not too long later, a loud thud was heard, almost as if something very large and heavy had hit the ground and Calem's eyes widened.

"Chesnaught..." he whispered to himself.

Ash had a small smile on his face. He still felt quite hurt, however, the battling had subsided the pain.

As the dust settled, Chesnaught could be seen laying on the ground with swirly eyes. Ash was smiling, however, it quickly turned into a frown.

Right next to Chesnaught lied Pikachu. He was not moving and he, too, had swirly eyes. Ash's confidence completely faltered. Seeing Pikachu out already was a big surprise to him.

"Both Chesnaught and Pikachu are unable to battle. This battle is a draw. Trainers, please send out your next Pokemon." called out the referee.

Calem returned his Pokemon as he watched a stupefied Ash walk over to his Pikachu and pick him up.

Ash smiled at Pikachu and started talking to him.

"You did great buddy. Take a good rest." he commended as he smiled down on him.
