Chapter 2: Present Day

Ashlynn's P.O.V

'Ashlynn! Hurry up! Otherwise you'll be late for school again!' That's Joe, my adoptive father.

When I was little, my mother was murdered and my father was convicted for her murder. I was only 1 when it happened and Barry was 11 years old. Barry says that it was a yellow blur who killed our mother. I believe him, but no one else does. After that night we came to live with Joe and Iris West where we currently live.

'Ashlynn, if you don't get down here in the next 10 minutes I'm leaving without you' Joe cried. I turned over in bed and groaned. I looked at my clock. It read 8:15. 'Sugar' I exclaimed as I jumped out of bed. I really did have 10 minutes to get ready for school. 'Barry get up now! I'm sure the Captain will not be pleased if you're late again!' That's what me and Barry have in common. He may be 10 years older than me but we were both as tardy as each other. I chuckled a little as I heard a thunk from the next room followed by a groan. Barry had fallen out of bed yet again.

I quickly brushed my wavy red hair, which Barry says looks exactly like my mother, brushed my teeth and put on my clothes. I then packed my bag, grabbed a banana to eat on my way to school and waited by the door. 'One minute to spare' Joe said as I stood by the door. Barry was still no where to be seen. Joe was about to yell at Barry again when I turned to Joe. 'Don't worry Joe, I got this' I said as I raced up the stairs. 'Bartholomew Henry Allen!' I exclaimed whilst banging my fists against the door. 'We are leaving right now so if you aren't out in the next 10 seconds you can walk to work!' Barry then opened his door. 'Did you really have to do that' he asked. 'Yep' I grinned. We then headed downstairs to Joe. 'Thanks' he whispered to me as we left the house.

We then got into the car and headed to school. 'I can't wait for tonight Barry!' I exclaimed. Tonight Barry and I were going to go see Harrison Well's particle accelerator turn on. Barry and I are huge science nerds. Barry works as a C.S.I for the CCPD. I want to work there too when I'm older. ' Harrison Wells is light years ahead of any scientist' Barry said. 'This particle accelerator will change the way we look at physics forever' he continued. Finally we reached my school. 'See you later Barry! Bye Joe!' I said as I left the car. 'See ya Ash' Barry said as I headed into the school.
