Chapter 7: Learning The Ropes

I can't believe I'm here doing this. Barry and I are on this abandoned runway in skin tight clothing testing out our speed. I must say I got the long end of the stick compared to Barry. I am wearing a light blue one piece which fits me nicely. I am also wearing a matching helmet along with goggles and protection pads. Barry is dressed like me, only his is red and a little bit too small for him. I can't help but laugh at him. 'Oh shut up' he growls at me whilst giving me a small slap.

'Caitlin will be monitoring your vitals whilst you run' Dr Wells explained. I was nervous before I came to S.T.A.R Labs as I didn't understand what was happening to me, but I'm slowly starting to accept it. Barry is talking to Caitlin whilst she is finishing checking his vitals. Oh God, I hope he isn't flirting with her. Barry and I line up at the starting blocks. 'I'm gonna be way faster than you' I whisper to him. 'You're on' he replies. 'On your marks, get set...' Before Dr Wells can finish we are off.

I have never felt anything like this in my life. The wind blowing in your face, the electricity running in your veins. I can't help but jump in the air with joy. But as I'm running, something happens. I see blurs of yellow, then suddenly there is a man in front of me. I skid to a halt, but after I end up crashing into some barrels. I look to my left and see that Barry is next to me, his hand at an unnatural angle. 'Definitely broken' I thought. I then looked to my arm which was also at an awkward angle. 'Ah, so that explains the pain' I thought before the world went black.

'Ashlynn, Ashlynn? Can you here me?' I open my eyes slowly. 'What happened?' I asked. 'You were running at 300 miles an hour and crashed into some barrels' Barry explained. 'You had a broken arm' Caitlin said. 'Had?' 'You see, your arm healed in 3 hours, just like Barry's wrist' Caitlin explained. 'So we have super fast healing? Awesome!' I say. 'We will have to practise stopping next time' Dr Wells said as he wheeled into the room.

'Hey Guys!' Cisco called. 'I have something for Barry and Ashlynn.'  We all headed towards Cisco. I was stunned at what I saw. There were two suits, one red and one purple. I guessed that that the purple one was for me. They were almost identical, but mine was a bit more feminine looking. Barry's suit had a hood which covered the top half of his face whilst I just had a deep purple mask to cover my eyes. They both had a lightning bolt symbol on the front. 'These are friction proof suits which will help whilst you are running so the suits won't heat up due to the friction." Cisco explained.

Both me and Barry looked at each other before putting on our suits. We looked awesome. 'Oh my goodness, we are superheroes Barry!' I exclaimed. 'We need names!' I cried. 'I have that covered' Cisco said. 'Barry, you're the Flash, whilst Ashlynn, you can be called...'

Yep, I'm leaving the chapter here. Comment on what you think Ashlynn's superhero name will be. I have an idea of what she will be called but if you give a good suggestion I may just use it. The Marden fight should come up in the next few chapters. Thanks for reading! -Cherry
