"You lied to us! How could you not tell us that the two of you were experiencing dizzy spells? We're your doctors! Who knows what is happening in your bodies! You cells are in a constant state of flux. Barry, you should know that in science, we share, we do not keep secrets!" Said Caitlin as she stormed off to check something. "I haven't seen anybody make her this mad since Ronnie" Cisco said. "Who's Ronnie?" I ask. "He was Caitlin's fiancé. He is.... missed" Dr Wells explains.
Then Barry and I headed into this room. Inside there were two treadmills that looked very high tech. Behind them were a bunch of cardboard boxes. "Padding, just in case" Cisco said, as if reading my mind. "Are you sure this will work Cisco?" Barry asks. "Most home treadmills can reach about 12 miles per hour. These babies have been Cisco'd. They can handle your speed" I step onto the treadmill. "Ready?" Barry asks me. I nod my head and start to run. I can feel myself going faster and faster. Then, black spots danced in front of my eyes, but I pushed myself to keep running. "Guys, we think we know why you keep" was all I managed to hear Dr Wells say before I heard a crash and the world turned back once more.
I slowly open my eyes again. I am laying on a medical bed. I slowly got up with the help of Caitlin and Cisco. I look over to see Barry still passed out on a bed beside mine. "I passed out again?" I asked. "Yes. Total metabolic failure brought on by acute hypoglycaemia" I looked to Wells to see if he can translate that to English. "You and Mr Allen are not eating enough" "So an IV bag and I'm good?" "Try forty" he says to me. "Guess you were thirsty.
Just then, Barry decided to wake up. He asked the same questions as I did and had the same reaction to the IV bags. " I've done some calculations. You guys need to eat the equivalent to 850 tacos, unless we're talking cheese and guac, which is like a whole other set of equations" Cisco says as I start to laugh. I love Cisco's way of thinking.
"For Mexican, I recommend Tito's. Best in the city" I hear a voice say. Barry and I turn to the entrance. Standing there is Joe, and he does not look happy. We are about to get a talking to.
"You know, there have been reports of a red and purple streak running around the city, stopping muggers, saving people from burning buildings" Joe begins. "I wasn't there for the burning building!" I interject. I see the stern look on Joe's face. "Not relevant" I mutter. "You didn't tell him we were working together Barry?" Wells asks. "Barry, you have a job in law enforcement already, and Ashlynn, you're just a child! I suggest you get back to your job Barry, and Ashlynn, you're work." Joe continues. "Mm hmm" Caitlin says as Joe looks at her. "Don't look at me, I agree with you!" "Look, we both want whats best for Barry and Ashlynn" Dr Wells says calmly. "If you want what's best for them you would stop this craziness!" "Joe!" Barry yells. I jump a bit, forgetting that he was there. He is starting to get worked up. I can see it in his face. "You saw a man control the weather! What are the police going to do against that? Since the explosion we think there are more like that!" "And what are you going to do about that? Catch them? You two can run real fast but you aren't invincible! You're not! You're kids, my kids!" Joe yells. "We aren't your kids Joe, and you're not our dad." I look at Barry completely shocked. I know he's right, but Joe has been my dad since as long as I can remember. I look at Joe. I can see that Barry's words got to him. "Our father, is locked up in Iron Heights, wrongfully convicted. You were wrong about him, and you're wrong about this. If we can save someone from a burning building, or stop thieves, we're gonna do it, and you can't stop us. So don't try to" Barry says. Joe pauses for a minute. "You think you're so bright, all of you. But you don't know everything. So you'd better be clever enough to figure this out before someone" he looks at me and Barry "gets killed" Then Joe leaves. Barry sits back on the bed, looking annoyed. I don't know what to do. I can't believe what Barry said about Joe. I know he didn't mean it, but those words cut deep. Barry notices my worry. "You okay Ash?" "Yeah, just.... thinking" I decide to get some school work done while I wait for these IV bags to go into my system whilst Barry starts talking to Cisco.
