Chapter 6: New Powers?

We reached Jitters after a 15 minute walk. We walked in together, looking for Iris. She was there serving a customer. She then turned her head and saw the two of us. She put down her tray and put her hands over her mouth. 'Oh my gosh' she said and ran over to us and gave us the world's biggest hug. 'I thought you two were dead, your hearts kept stopping.' she explained. Barry put her hand over his heart and said 'It's still beating' If I hadn't been in a coma for 9 months I would have laughed at this. 'It's beating really fast' Iris pointed out.

Suddenly, it felt like the world was moving in slow motion. I watched as a waitress slowly dropped her tray to the ground, it's contents smashing everywhere. Then time seemed to go back to normal. I was shocked. I gave Barry a look that said 'Did you see that?' His look was one of agreement and shock. I'm either not crazy as Barry saw the same thing as me, or we are both going insane after the lightning. 'Are you guys okay?' Iris asked. 'Yeah, we're fine' I said. 'Have you talked to dad yet? Does he know you're awake yet?' Iris asked. 'No, not yet. We're going to see him now.' Barry said. 'Okay, I'll see you after my shift ends.' Iris said. 'Bye' I say as we leave Jitters.

'Barry, did the world, like, slow down for a moment at Jitters for you?' I asked as we walked to the CCPD. 'Yeah, it was really weird' he replied.

When we got to the CCPD Barry was instantly welcomed back by all of his work mates. We finally got to see Joe. 'Oh my word thank goodness you guys are okay' he exclaimed when he saw us. 'It's good to be back' I say. He pulls Barry and I into a big bear hug. 'Joe, we gotta go' an officer says to him. 'Robbery at Gold City Bank' 'Sorry kids, I gotta go' Joe said. 'Do you need me to come help' Barry asked. 'Nah, you just take it easy' Joe said and then left.

Iris then arrived and started to talk to Barry about what he had missed and about the Mardon brothers. I saw this handcuffed criminal being held by two cops. Time started to move slowly again as he reached for the gun in the cop's holder. I ran and grabbed the gun off of him before he could shoot. 'I'll kill you all' he yelled as the cops took him away. 'Are you alright?' Barry asked, concern thick in his voice. 'Yeah, I just need some air' I reply and head outside. I know he is following me.

When I'm outside I look at my hand. It's vibrating. 'What's happening to me' I mutter. 'Ashlynn?' Barry calls for me. 'Barry! What's happening to me?' I cry. 'It's ok, it's ok.' He is trying to calm me. Suddenly a burst of energy is going through my veins and I feel the need to run. So I do. In less than a second I'm 10 feet away from Barry. 'Barry!' I say, nearly screaming. I'm scared and I don't know what to do. But Barry doesn't respond. He's looking at his own hand which is vibrating like mine. Next thing you know he is beside me. 'Cool' he says. 'No! Not cool! We don't know what is happening to us and you think it's cool?' I start crying now. 'Ash, don't cry. Look, we'll head to S.T.A.R Labs and get this sorted out' he reassures me. But instead of taking a cab, he uses his new speed. Typical Barry Allen.
