Ruby's POV:
"Ok guys, see you later!" I told Amethyst and Jasper and headed down to detention.
The lunch bell had rang and people were heading to the cafeteria to claim their tables for the rest of the year, but not me. No I had lunch DETENTION which meant no talking, no phones, no sleeping, no sneezing, or anything to keep you sane.
If you got lucky, Holly Blue Agate, the "correction adviser", might have to leave the room so you could at least talk to people. I stopped at the detention room and took a deep breath before walking into hell on earth.
I walked in and immediately felt Holly Blue's eyes bore into me. She walked away from someone's desk, someone she was probably yelling at, and studied me from about three inches from my face. "Hmmm, Ruby Gar. What could the star basketball player have done to need correcting?" Holly Blue asked me with an intense look on her face. "Disrupting Ms. Blue Diamond's class, Holly Blue Agate." I said, nervous to be so close to her.
"Take a seat, Ruby. And remember this is detention, so no talking and no phones, or I'll have to use harsher methods of discipline." Holly Blue said coldly and walked back over to her desk. Man, did I hate that woman.
I got bored of just sitting there so I decided to pull one of my Deadpool comics out of my bag and finish it here. I couldn't focus on reading so I looked around the room and read those cheesy posters teachers put up and looked around at my inmates.
Lapis was in the corner opposite of me, chewing gum and blowing bubbles. She probably got caught riding her skateboard around the building, tracking dirt on the pristine white marble floors. I saw Bismuth sleeping to my left with her big feet planted on the desk and her multicolored hair draped over her shoulders. With as much dye as she put in it, I'm surprised all her hair hasn't fallen out.
That seemed like a pretty good idea to me, so I crossed my arms across my desk, laid my head down and prayed Holly Blue would let me do this.Sapphire's POV:
I had a few more things to wrap up at the library before I had to get to lunch detention. I placed my books in my bag, said goodbye to the librarian, Mrs. Corundum, who I spend most of my time with when studying, and walked down the hall at a steady pace. But I couldn't stop thinking about Ruby.
I couldn't stop thinking about her curly brown hair, her bright smile, the way she made sure she hadn't hurt me, and those deep brown eyes I could get lost in. No. High School isn't a place to have fickle relationships. Focus on your grades, not a meaningless relationship. I shook myself out of my thoughts when I was standing in the doorway of the correction hall.
Holly Blue Agate walked over to me and addressed me with somewhat of a smile actually. "Ms. Net, might I ask what a student of your caliber be doing here?" She asked.
Holly Blue Agate always liked me because of how hard I worked in my classes and my knack for following the rules. I was simply one of her favorites.
"I was disrupting Ms. Blue Diamond's class, Holly Blue Agate." I said getting to the point quickly. I didn't want to be here any longer than I had to.
"That was why Ms. Gar is here. She didn't get you into trouble, did she? A young lady of your stature shouldn't be around others who would hold her back." Holly Blue told me.
"I can assure you, my own actions got me here, but thank you for your concern." I said, wanting to just sit down and get this over with.
"Well then, Ms. Net, you may take a seat until lunch is over." Holly Blue told me. I breathed a sigh of relief when I was released from her prying questions.
I was debating whether to sit in the back or front, when I noticed Ruby sitting there, asleep. If I sit next to her, we can talk about our project in Blue Diamond's class. It'll be strictly for business, Sapphire, so calm down. I took the seat to her right and pulled out my book about business.
"Psst! Ruby! Wake up! Holly Blue Agate doesn't allow sleeping and you don't want to get in more trouble!" I whispered to Ruby. She slowly woke up and rubbed her eyes and stared groggily at me.
"Sapphire? What are you doing?" Ruby asked me in a low voice.
"Trying to keep you from getting into more trouble with Holly Blue Agate! Now wake up!"
I said a little more forceful, but trying to look like I was reading. Holly Blue Agate looked over at Ruby and I suspiciously, but I gave a reassuring smile and she looked back down.
"Ruby, I was wanting to talk about our project in History. We can do it on anything and we should give ideas to narrow down the options."Ruby's POV:
So, Sapphire just sat down next to me, woke me up from my nap, and is now trying to talk to me about homework. Had this been anyone else, I would've socked 'em right in their face. But, since I've knocked her over twice and embarrassed her on the first day of school, I figured I owed her some niceness.
"Ok then. You're smarter here, so I trust you've got a really good idea already cooking in that brain of yours." I stated in a soft voice. I figured Sapphire would just roll her eyes or ignore my comments all together, but she blushed. Her cheeks turned a nice red and her full lips curled into a slight smile. God that was adorable. I mean, it's cute but not that I care! Do I? Sapphire started talking again and I shook myself out of my thoughts.
"I was thinking we could do it about the Gem war. Considering it's a history class I think it's appropriate." Sapphire stated confidently, behind her book.
"That would make sense, but that sounds generic. Like, the whole class'll probably be doing that same thing. They'll all be trying to please Ms. Blue Diamond. We can do it on literally anything let's get variety." I said, which gained Holly Blue's attention.
"Ms. Gar..." Holly Blue said, basically growling, from her desk, glaring at me to keep quiet. I nodded and lowered my head.
We sat there, not talking, until the bell rang for lunch to be over. I packed up my stuff into my bag and was about to leave when Sapphire came up next to me.
"We can talk more tomorrow, Ruby. Bye for now." She said. She gave me a warm smile and we parted ways to our next classes.A/n: I'm alive! I'm sooooo sorry this chapter took so long but Gymnastics season started at my school so I stay after school most days and I'm starting on my cosplay for Comicon so, my writing schedule is all out of wack.
