"Mother! Mother where are you?" The young princess, that could not of been older then the age of eight, yelled for her mother. Hadria stomped around the castle with great distress, trying to find her. It only took a minute for the Queen to appear at the top of the grand staircase. Hadria giggled as her mother opened her arms, inviting her daughter to come up to her. She dashed up the stairs to her mother, grabbing onto the long, elegant, dress that she was wearing.
"Do you need something, my child?" The queen picked up her child, setting Hadria on her hip. The princess pouted for a minute before whining.
"When will Prince Noctis come back? It has been over a month, mother! I miss him!" The princess wasn't happy at all, and her mother tried to reason with her.
"Hadria, King Regis and the prince have a lot going on. I am sure that the prince with come back soon. Why don't you go and play with one of your friends here in the kingdom?" Her mother walked around the area in an attempt to cool down her daughter. Hadria though wasn't having any of it, and wiggled out of the queen's grasp.
"I don't want to! You said that Noctis would be here this week, last week, and the week before! Does he not want to be my friend anymore, Mother?" Hadria started to cry and her mother knelt down to her height.
"Listen to me now, Hadria. Noctis is in a bit of trouble and the king asked for some privacy for awhile. The King apologized for the inconvenience, and that he hopes to see you again. You are such a wonderful little girl, Hadria. Never let anyone tell you different because you are the light that shines both my and your father's world." Her mother wiped the tears off her face and kissed the princess's forehead. Hadria nodded her head while she hastily sniffed. Her mother guided her to the balcony that showed the whole entire kingdom.
"This will be your land one day, Hadria. One day playing with friends and running around doing anything you want will come to an end." Her mother looked down at her with a regretful expression, almost looking drained of life. She quickly carried on, "I don't want that to happen any time soon. You're too young to take on such a feat. You will though, and no one will be more proud of you then I." Her mother take ahold of her hand, rubbing it with her thumb.
"Will I have a king? Like how you have daddy?" Hadria asked, making her mother laugh in delight.
"Of course you will. We will find someone just perfect for you!" The queen replied. Hadria giggled in return before taking a step back from the balcony. Her mother watched her with a loving expression. The queen knew that trouble was heading their way, but couldn't tell her daughter without scaring her even more than she already was. She did have good news from the little girl though.
"You don't have to worry about not having a playmate here anymore though." Her mother picked up the princess and held her close. Hadria looked at her mother with confusion, telling her to proceed on with what she was saying.
"You will have a baby sister, Hadria. It will just be a few months of waiting." Her mother teared up slight as she watched her daughter laugh and giggle in delight. The princess gently touched the bump forming on her mother's abdomen. She tilted her head in curiosity while she looked her mother in the eyes.
"How did you get the baby in your stomach, mother?" Hadria asked with a sparkle in her eyes. The queen stammered for a moment, trying to figure out how to explain her daughter's question.
"Well, dear, your father and I talked to the gods about you being so lonely in the castle. They said that they would bare me with another child. They touched my stomach, and I was blessed with your sister." Her mother played off the question cooly. The princess gaped at her mother in amazement.
"I want to talk to the gods! Do you think I will ever talk to them, mother?" Hadria asked her mother another question, and it made the queen freeze. She set the princess down, and cleared her throat. She knew that her child would know the truth when she was quite older and more mature. She couldn't tell her child something that was impossible to explain to someone so young.
"Maybe you will, Hadria. You must make your own path. I can not tell you what's going to happen when you are older. I can only wish you the best." The queen was obviously flustered by the question her own daughter had asked. Hadria nodded to the response, and hopped out of her mother's grasp. Hadria thought nothing of what her mother just told her, and ran down the grand staircase.
"Where are you going, Hadria?" Her mother asked, walking down a few steps. The princess giggled as she skipped to the front entrance.
"I'm gonna go play with my friend Kiora!" Hadria exclaimed to the woman at the top of the stairs. Her mother nodded and guided her hand to the door.
"Go ahead, please be back by sunset for dinner though. Your father will want to talk to you tonight now that he is back home from his journey to Niflhiem." Her mother smiled down at her child before retreating back into the room she came from earlier. Hadria quickly sped out the door, and shielded her eyes from the blinding sun. She looked down to see her friend waving at her frantically, and skipped down to her. From then on nothing forestalled the princess fate, nor would anything stop her from getting what she wanted.
