Chapter six; confessions

It had been a lovely Holiday. Peri and lapis decided to stay at the academy for break together. They considered each other best friends, after all.
What peridot and lapis didn't know about each other, was that they were both crushing on each other. Lapis didn't take long to realize her attraction to the smaller girl, but peridot was never good with emotion, it took her longer, around a month to realize her feelings for the blue haired girl.
Peri viewed lapis as an elegant beam of moonlight, controlling the calm waters on earth, a beautiful thing. She considered lapis to be calm, funny, smart, patient, and beautiful.
Lapis viewed peri as a delicate ray of sunshine. Happy, positive, kind, and adorable. She considered peridot to be the smartest person she knew.
They both wished to be more than friends. Lapis was shy, quiet, and a natural introvert. She did not know how to confess her feelings, and was scared of rejection, so she silently viewed the amazing girl whom she loved from afar.
Peridot was meanwhile working on how she would confess. She was absolutely terrified of rejection, but knew Lazuli was open to being friends still.
Peri decided that today was the day. It was a Friday night. Peri was on the couch, watching a movie with lapis. She thought for a good thirty minutes, and took a deep breath.
She turned to the taller girl, nervous as the artificial light flickered across their faces.
" L- lapis?"
The blue haired girl slowly averted her sparkling eyes from the screen and turned her head to the blonde.
" Year Peri?"
Peridot's cheeks tinted pink at the nickname. She hastily took a shaky breath, and spoke;
" Can I tell you something?"
" Of course." Curiosity shone in Lapis's blue eyes.
" I uh-- um well,-"
She stuttered, scared of what she blurted out next;

" I REALLLYY LIKE YOU LAPIS!!"

Lazuli was shocked. She remained frozen for a good two minutes, confirming what her crush had just confessed to her, while peri was shaking with anxiety.

" I like you too!!!"

Lapis embraced peri in a warm hug.
When she pulled away, peri was blushing furiously.
" Will you go out with me??" Peri asked.

" Yes."
