It was a month later when we held the funeral. My parents were grieving, and so was I. I started to become isolated from the world after the incident. They placed my siblings coffins in the ground, and I got up, and went to the car. A few days later, I got a package from an unknown sender. When I saw the package, I went inside my room, and began to open it. I thought it was from one of my friends sending me a pity package, but when I opened it, it wasn't from any of my friends. There was a long tail jacket in there, on it were two wrist gauntlents, and next to them was a utility belt of some kind to go over the shoulder and around the chest. There was a note under it all, and it read,
"Kyle,
We are sorry to hear that you lost your siblings to the Templars. The hooded figures you saw helping you are part of an order known as the assassins. From what they've told me, you wear our symbol on you jacket. Most people who lose their loved ones tend to grieve for a while, but they never think to seek vengance. That's normal. However, if you feel like you need revenge on the Templars, then our paths are crossed. We'd like to help you exact revenge on them, if you wish. I will have a few people waiting for you on the rooftop it happened at for the next few weeks if you want to join us. The choice is up to you.
Sincerely,
A"
I looked at the things they sent me, and at the note. Later that night, I put on the tail jacket, and slide the gauntlents on. I didn't know what they did, until I felt the wire inside. I pulled my hands back to see what it did, and blades shot out of the gauntlets, like they were hidden. I relaxed my hands, and the blades slid back in. I put the belt around my shoulder, pulled the hood on my tail jacket up. There was a point on the front of the hood, and I wondered why. My parents were asleep, so I left a note on the front door by the peephole, and left.
I was wondering on the way there why I was doing this. For all I knew these were the guys that killed my siblings. I saw two hooded figures waiting there. I walked up, and they saw me, then nodded. "Follow us, and keep close" one of them told me, and they both took off. I tried my best to keep up, and eventually we reached what seemed like an abandoned building. They wnet inside, and I followed. They went downstairs, and I started seeing the symbol I had on my jacket. I pulled it out, and pinned it onto my utility bely, and kept close to the two figures.
There were people training to kill, and fight. There were others with their hoods off, and resting. I saw another hooded figure up ahead. The figure had hair starting to peek out from the hood, and two silenced pistols at the waist. The figures walked up to the third, and told the figure I was here. They all looked at me, and I pulled off my head, feeling my hair pull up. I smoothed it down.
The figure pulled their hood off, and her hair fell down to her shoulder. "So, you're the kid. Funny, I was expecting someone smaller, but that means you might exceed my expectations then, right?" She shook some hair from her eye, and looked at me. I didn't know what to ay, so I didn't say anything at all. "Let's see how you handle in a fight."
The two figures from earlier ran towards me. I ducked down, and felt a knife to my neck, and a knife at my back. The girl had me pinned. "If I was your enemy, you'd be dead by now." She lowered her weapons, and I felt my neck. "You need to work on your fighting skills, and probably all your skills. Eventually, I think you'll be ready. It'll take months to train you. If you want, that is. Imagine this like the matrix. You see these two sashes? One of them is red, the other is blue. You pick the blue, and you return to your normal life. Move on from your brother and sister's deaths. Take the red one, and you wear it with pride, as you join the assassins."
I looked at both sashes, then at the assassins watching me. I tied the red sash around my waist. They all nodded, and the girl grinned. "Well, welcome to the creed, the brotherhood, the assassins."
"You know who killed my siblings killer is. I recognize your voice from that day. Who is he?" They all looked at me again, and the girl shook her head. "All in good time, rookie. For now, all you need to know is that Nothing is True, and Everything is Permitted." Whatever that meant, I had no idea. "Go home for now, and come back tomorrow. Your training wil begin then. Rest up, and enjoy the time you have left with your family." I wondered what she meant by that, and went home. It was still dark when I got home, so I took the note and burnt it. I went to sleep for whatever time I had left, and woke up with the sun in my face.
I looked at the package from yesterday, and saw a picture I didn't see before, because it wasn't there before. It was a picture of the masked man, both with his mask on and off. There was a note next attatched to it saying, "This is the man you want. Your training begins today." I pinned the picture to my wall, and left.
