"I don't get it!" I said, pacing back and forth in Angelina's room to rant about my little argument with Jazlyn. After I decided to check up on her, I wanted to talk to someone about this and Angelina's door was open at the time. "She's not going to change. I can already tell right now. She will say no."
"You don't know that, Harry."
"Oh, don't act like you're the benefit of the doubt here. You already know that she won't agree to changing, even when it means losing me."
Angelina rolled her eyes. "I say a lot of things and sometimes they are true and rarely at times, I'm wrong. I could be wrong about this."
I dropped down on the bed and groaned. "Am I asking for too much?"
"In her case, yes."
"That was a rhetorical question, Angelina, and you're not helping. Aren't you supposed to guide me and give me advice on this situation? No, you can't because your love life is perfect!"
"I can assure you my love life with Niall wasn't perfect," Angelina said, glaring at me. "Niall and I had much more complications than Jazlyn and you."
"Whatever," I sat up. "You didn't have some vampire hunting you down and make you go into hiding or have to fight with Niall about becoming a vampire."
"You're right," Angelina stood up. "I had five vampires that made Niall and me go into hiding. On top of that, one of them was sick minded and twisted. Don't start this with me, Harry. I'm trying to help you, so don't take your anger out on me. I'm tired of it."
My jaw clenched, but I nodded. "I can't lose her."
"I know," Angelina said calmly, but with full attitude. "You tell me that every day."
"What do you suggest we do?"
"I thought you were going to accept her decision no matter what." Angelina poured me a glass of blood. "Did you just come to realization that you can't be happy with whatever decision she makes?"
"Are you enjoying this?" I questioned her. "Do you enjoy rubbing in that you were right about this? What else are you going to say? Are you going to say that you know her better than me now?"
The door to the bedroom opened and Niall stepped inside. "Was I interrupting something?"
Angelina shook her head. "Harry, let the chips fall where they may. She can't live without you and you can't live without her. She'll see the light eventually."
Getting the hint, I got up and walked back to the bedroom. Jazlyn was out of the bathroom, the lights were out, and Jazlyn was already on her side of the bed with her back facing away from the door. I removed my clothes and took a quick shower. I slipped on my pajama pants and slid into bed with her. Very carefully, I pulled her against my chest and wrapped my arm around her waist. She moaned softly, but continued to sleep. I can't sleep without her leaning against my chest. Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes and allowed the sound of her heartbeat to lullaby me to sleep.
As I slept, thoughts raced through my head. I thought about Jazlyn being taken away from me and someone else claiming her. On top of that, I thought about the vampire attacking her and changing her before Angelina could. The vampire would control Jazlyn and give her orders to stay away from me forever or possibly kill me.
I remembered what it was like being controlled. A strong force made you hold your tongue. A force that made you feel like you were stapled to the ground. A dangerous impact that would make you feel drained because of how hard you tried to let out the words or try to make you stop what you are doing, but all efforts would fail, because it was impossible to break away from the commands given to you. It would make you feel weak and useless. No matter how hard anyone fights it, no one can disobey the orders of their leader. If Angelina can't do it, there wouldn't be a way Jazlyn could disobey either.
