Deanna's pov
Mr. Brins class was over and he looked at me and shook his head. It's not like I get bad grades. I'm a dork. It's that I don't 'participate enough'. Well at least now I have lunch. I hadn't heard Pete say anything but Liz was talking Patrick's ear off. But he didn't seem to mind.
"Oh my gosh! Deanna they're sitting with us!" Elizabeth exclaimed grabbing my arm. I gave
her a look and she straightened up saying,
"Sorry. Forgot. Let's go!" She pulled me and Patrick out; while Patrick pulled Pete. I broke
away by my locker as did Pete. He opened the one 1 door down from mine. Patrick and Elizabeth were stopped at Patrick's locker. Which is 1 door away from Elizabeth's. Oh the irony. I grabbed my bag and everything from my locker and I saw Pete doing the same. Patrick and Elizabeth took off so me and Pete walked to the lunch room in silence.
As soon as I pushed the lunch room doors open everyone fell silent and watched us. I pointed to the back row of tables saying,
"They're in the back row. Right corner. Follow." He nodded and we weaved through the
crowd. People moving away from me. I scare people. It's useful.
We got to the table and Pete sat down next to Patrick. I sat down next to Elizabeth. She was going on about something I nudged her saying,
"Okay. Liz breath. You need to give the poor guy a chance to think."
Patrick chuckled and Pete snickered. My phone went off and I took it out. I clenched my jaw at what it read. I shoved it back in my pocket and stood up saying,
"Have to go. Family emergency. See you guys later I'm sure." Before anyone could say
anything worse I raced to the office. They all looked surprised as I signed out. I NEVER sign out.
I walked out of the school into the crisp September air. A sigh escaped my lungs as I started walking.
-------------------------
I was at the old park in the branches of the old oak tree. The little kids that ran around started disappearing to their mothers to go home. I've been here for hours. Just thinking. Being alone. Something I'm all too used too. I heard 2 familiar voices and a third smooth voice. I watched as Patrick, Pete, and Elizabeth came into view. They all stopped under the oak tree and sat down. Me and Liz come here all the time. She doesn't know I'm here. I could freak her out.
I hooked my legs on the branch and dropped down smiling, "Hey." Elizabeth screamed making Patrick and Pete yell and jumped. I grabbed another branch and swung down smiling.
Liz grabbed my arm saying, "Never do that again! You made me have a heart attack!"
"Well technically if you had a heart attack you'd be having severe chest pains and all that lovely stuff."
Pete chuckled before smirking, "So let me guess. You were in the tree. Saw Liz and wanted to scare her." I nodded and Patrick laughed,
"It's scary how much you too are a like. Petepanda woulda done the same."
Petepanda? I chuckled as did Liz and Pete smacked Patrick's arm saying,
"Shut up Trick." Me and Beth snorted to retain put laughter and I asked,
"So you guys wanna go to a party Friday night? My boyfriend Gabe's throwing it at his
house." Patrick and Liz looked conflicted and Pete smiled,
"I'm in."
I turned to Trick and Beth with a raised eye brow asking, "Well?"
Liz bit her thumb nail nervously asking, "You won't get into another fight?" I shrugged and she caved as did Patrick. They all started talking and I separated myself a little bit. I leaned my head back so it was resting against the tree trunk. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. God today sucked. Why is my life falling apart even more.
I must've been in my own world because when Beth tapped my shoulder I jumped and almost smacked her on reflex. Patrick and Pete were chuckling but Pete had a look of understanding. He doesn't know why I jumped so easily. Or does he?
Liz laughed as I gave her a face asking, "What?"
She smiled before saying, "You're sleeping over remember? My parents are outta town. And Pat and Pete are coming over."
I nodded and Pete smirked, "We might sleep over too. Enjoy watching you 2 have a pillow fight."
My head shook and a chuckle escaped my throat as I replied, "We don't do pillow fights."
He cocked his head to the left asking, "Then what do you do?"
I stood up adjusting my bag on my back smiling, "You'll just have to find out. Won't ya?"
He grasped me hand as I held it out; pulling himself up. I smiled and he just shook his head. As the 4 of us started to walk away I heard Patrick chuckle to Elizabeth,
"They like each other. We need to get them together."
