Pete's pov ---a week later---

I slammed my locket shut and stormed out of the school. That bitch. She had that fucking nerve to call Deanna a freaking wimp because she was abused. And then when I said I was abused she said I was amazingly strong for it. Deanna saved lives. I didn't.

The door to my car slammed shut behind me and I angrily started the engine. I sat there for a second before slamming my fist on the dash board. My mom wasn't gonna be happy. This is my 3rd time ditching this week.

Once I was sure I had enough clothes for 3 days I scribbled a note to my mom saying I would be out of town for a few days. So what I'll miss 2 days of school. I'm smart. I'm in honor's classes and I'm get straight A+'s. I made sure I had my keys before I unlocked my car. Before I could get in Liz and Patrick appeared with bags and Liz smiled,

"We're coming with you cous."

I laughed and shook my head before chuckling, "Then get your asses in the car. We hace a long ass drive to Connecticut."

Deanna's pov

I crossed the finish line first and my instructor nodded at me. I saluted him and he looked at his watch saying,

"4 minutes 56 seconds. Not bad Hills. You can go back to the bunks."

I nodded and replied, "Yes sir," before walking away. I jogged to my bunk house and walked in shutting the door behind me. I was the first one back. Again. I peeled off my dark navy blue almost black camo uniform shirt leaving me in black construction boots, matching camo pants, and a black tank top.

I grabbed my water from my bunk which was the top one. I downed half of it before using a rag to wipe away the sweat running down my face. Slowly the other girls started filing into the bunk house. No one made conversation. No one talked. No one wanted to be here. But me. They were all going to quit the first day hell week started. Which is tomorrow. And if I make it through that. Then I'm pretty much home free. As soon as I finish this boot camp I got to sniper school. Then Seal Team Six evals. I know what you're thinking. Yes I joined the military. Yes I'm only 17. I turn 18 in 2 months. And I had enough high school credits and a guardian went over everything and all that shit. Not to mention I scored higher on anyone else in the bunk house.

My phone started ringing and I sighed. I looked at it and saw it was Patrick and Liz wanting to video chat. I had an hour. I climbed onto my bed and excepted it. It took a second and I put in headphones as I saw Pete, Patrick, and Liz. They weren't at someone's house though. Well not someone I know. And they weren't at the diner. Wait. They were at the orphanage.

"Umm hey guys where are you?" I asked sitting up.

"At the orphanage. How come you didn't tell us you joined the Navy!?" Liz screamed.

They didn't know? I texted them and told the orphanage people to tell them. I gave them a look before saying,

"I texted you guys about it. And I told the orphanage heads to tell you and my mom. Didn't they?" Pete shook his head saying,

"Well we're coming up to visit you. We know it's visiting weekend. Where are you?" I rolled my eyes before saying,

"I need to go do more drills and work on beating the guys course times. And South Carolina. Fort Jackson."

Patrick shook his head laughing, "My half sister's crazy. But amazing. And got it." I smiled before hanging up. I walked out of the bunk house to the courses.
