It was the last day of senior year and Cassandra was preparing for graduation in a week. She was more than excited because not only was it time for graduation it was her eighteenth birthday. Cassandra has waited for this time for so long. The time when she no longer was a little child anymore. Jessica, her best friend, and her parents had planned a surprise graduation party for her. After school the last day of school Cassandra and Jessica went to the mall to pick out their outfits for graduation day. Cassandra's mother had giving her credit card to her that morning, and told her to pick any outfit she had liked, and not to worry about the amount. She and Jessica did just that. They both picked dresses worth over two hundred dollars so that they would fabulous for graduation. Jessica knew it was too much, but because she knew there was a party afterwards she hadn't mind to tell Cassandra that the dresses were too much. After the mall, they headed to a nearby coffee shop for some lattes. They were busy talking about graduation and looking forward to college when in walked Tyler and Christopher. Tyler and Christopher had been best friends since the 6th grade. Those boys were inseparable, and Christopher had a huge crush on Cassandra since the 8th grade. However, Cassandra never dated any other boy since Alex, her ex-boyfriend, left in the beginning of 8th grade. That didn't stop Christopher from trying thought. He was always trying to get her attention, and invite her on dates, but still Cassandra refused. Jessica never understood why Cassandra never dated after Alex. I mean the four years in high-school Cassandra never even mentioned liking any boys at the school. After the coffee shop Cassandra and Jessica headed to Cassandra's house. Jessica would always spend the night there on Fridays, because they would always binge watch episodes on Netflix.

Before the girls knew it, the week had flown by with them at the beach, shopping at the mall, going to the movies, and relaxing by the pool. Now the day had come for graduation day. In the morning, the girls had gone to get their hair done at their usual salon. Cassandra loved going there because the stylist, Rebecca, was the only one that Cassandra thought could properly get her hair straightened. After all Cassandra was Panamanian and Peruvian, and not many people knew had to straighten that kind of hair. The girls were there getting their hair straightened for about three hours. After they were done they decided to go get their nails and toes done. After all they had to look fabulous for their graduation. Jessica was even more excited about it, because after all she knew about the party afterwards. As the day went by the girls couldn't help to get anxious about graduation. Graduation was supposed to start at 7 p.m. that night. It was being held at the Grand Hall on Lexington Ave. That place was so beautiful and big inside. That location was the best in the city, and Cassandra couldn't be much happier. The girls went home and changed into their dresses for their graduation. Then Cassandra, her mother, father, brothers, and sisters all drove to her graduation. As they entered, Cassandra couldn't help but be memorized by the site of the inside of the Grand Hall. This was it there was no turning back. Cassandra had come along way. She had straight A's all through elementary, middle, and high-school. She was also in all AP classes. Cassandra had done so well, that she was offered many scholarships. However, she made the choice to attend a College nearby, so that she can stay in her parents' house. Cassandra's parents and siblings sat down in the crowd as she went to find Jessica, so that they can go sit with their graduating class. The principal of the school, Mr. Longhair, went up to the podium and said a few words. After a while they finally started announcing the names, and Cassandra couldn't wait for them to call her. "Cassandra Prescott". When she heard, her name called she couldn't help but feel relieved. She knew that she had done it. She had finished her dream, and how much more dreams to come. She walked up to the podium, took the diploma, and turned and smiled at her family screaming her name as they took pictures of her. After the ceremony, Jessica asked Cassandra to go for a cup of coffee. After first Cassandra was hesitant to go. She just wanted to go home and relax after such a long day, but Jessica convinced her to go, because it was also her birthday and she knew Cassandra loved coffee. So, she told her that was her birthday present. Jessica knew she had to, after all, Cassandra's parents were setting up for her party. It was about ten o clock when Cassandra and Jessica returned to Cassandra's house, and she was exhausted. As she opened the door, the whole crowd screamed congratulations and happy birthday. She was in shock. She had no idea that this was even going down. Her parents greeted her with a hug and a kiss and told her that they were leaving and she would have the house to herself tonight. So not only did her parents trust her with this party they had decided not to be there. Jessica was so ecstatic for her friend.

So many of their friends had shown up for the party, and people who weren't even her friend. Of course, Christopher and Tyler were in attendance. Christopher again tried to get Cassandra to acknowledge him, but again she did not. Cassandra was too busy enjoying her party, and thanking her guests for coming. After two hours, the party had ended, and everyone left. Christopher, Tyler, and Jessica had stayed to help her clean up. They were finished cleaning when Tyler suggested that they all head to a club nearby. Jessica, Cassandra, and Christopher were game, because they didn't want the night to end.
