"Listen to the girl as she takes on half the world
Moving up and so alive
In her honey dripping beehive"

-The Jesus and Mary Chain, Just Like Honey

Tuesday morning was almost the same as Monday morning with the exception of the sun covered by clouds. The rain had already begun to fall on the city, the soft pitter patter against Violet's window woke her. Her sleep was dreamless but nonetheless, it left her well rested.

Her blurry thoughts became clear when she thought about the events planned for the day. She was going to the circus with Jerome, her one and only friend. So maybe their friendship may only be temporary as he had to leave in two weeks, but the mere thought of friendship made Violet grin.

The sound of bickering between Graham and their mother echoed from the kitchen. Violet couldn't even begin to guess what they were fighting about today. Perhaps it had something to do with her going out or maybe it was something that had to do with his line of work.

"Violet," her mother called from behind the closed door. "I'm giving you one more chance to redeem yourself. If you're late one more time, I'm going to have to fire you from SawyerSet."

Violet groaned. In all honesty, she no longer wanted to work for her mom or SawyerSet. She despised working for her mother. She hated how her mother bossed her around more than she needed to. She hated how her mother yelled at in front of other her coworkers. However, if she did get fired or if she was able to work up the courage to quite from the accounting company, her mother would disown her for sure.

Her mother didn't wait for an answer, the sound of her heels against the wood flooring soon faded leaving Violet to get ready.

Violet jumped out of bed, rushing to get ready. She needed to prove her mom wrong today, more so than any other day.

She bolted to her bathroom where she made a mental note to shower that night as it would take way too much time up. That, and she didn't want to deal with trying to blow dry her hair.

After washing her face and putting on her makeup, she raced to her closet and slipped on a thin sage green v-neck sweater and squeezed into her black jeans. She snatched up a pair of black ankle boots and struggled to put them on, hopping around the room.

When she had finally managed to get dressed, she ran a brush through her frizzy hair and then snatched up her phone from her nightstand.

When she zipped through the kitchen she found that Graham had already left. This left Violet relieved that she didn't have to put up with his glares.

The last thing she needed to do now was to grab her breakfast and her mother's coffee at the café. Nothing would distract her from being early today, nothing.
