Homeward bound chap 20

Katlin finished packing at around 1 in the morning , Mark had come into the room many times over the night , asking her to make sure he was sleeping and his phone was on charge as he didnt want it to run out of charge at the airport.

"Good morning " Mark said as he placed a glass of orange juice on the island in front of her . She could hear something on the stove and assumed it was bacon because she could hear the crackling pop that only comes with bacon at a high heat .

"Good morning to you too" She says cheerfully , drinking slowly from her glass.

"Glad to be going home ?" he guessed smiling as he handed Katlin a plate of bacon and pancakes.

"God yes " she said and then realised how full of relief it sounded and guessed that it could be taken as offensive "Not that I'm relieved to be going but I miss Hawkeye "

"Hawkeye?" He questioned her.

"My dog , an over active border collie " She laughed.

"Now you have send me lots of pictures you know" Mark comments , sitting down next to her with his own plate , pilled high with pancakes and topped of with slices of bacon .

"I'll send you pictures if you send me updates of how all of you doing and you need to send me lots of pics of Angus " She bargins.

"Deal ,hell a more than deal I'll happily do it " He said excitedly , obviously he's got excited about all of the dog pictures he's going to be getting.

"I've got some pictures on my facebook , just look at them , the pictures aren't private "she said, stuffing a piece of bacon into her mouth .

"Doggies" Mark exclaimed as he saw all of the pictures on her facebook of her 3 border collies , hawkeye ,angel and booth and her sausage dog cross dachshund called Arthur.

"I know they're so cute arent they?"

Mark just agreed by flicking through the pictures and giving almost all of them 'aww's'.

"Flights at 4 , we have a few hours before we need to be at the airport . So can we call Ethan and Tyler ?" She questioned , practically jumping up and down in her seat.

"Fine , but you're going to talk this time , my throat still hurts from how long they kept me on the call last night "

"I'll happily talk to my boyfriend and one of your best friends " she said .

"He likes me better anyway" SHe gloates .

"I wouldnt be so sure of that " he says like he know something she doesn't know.

"Okay well enough jibber jabbering , lets call them " She says jogging into the living room to get her laptop from where it was charging.

As she started up the app mark' phone rang , but then it went off revealing his lockscreen.

"Is that me ?" She acknowledged.

"Yes , I thought you know that " The picture was her after she had gone on a run with him , she was sweating and her hair was in a messy bun as she leaned her hand on her knees to balance herself.

"Well aparently not , but why that picture? we have so many pictures together "

"Do you remember that day?" He askes as she tries to call them again after the call ended itself .

"It had rained all day and when it stopped you asked if we could go for a run , so I said yes figuring the smell of the rain would help you get settled into America quicker , and then afterwards you panted for almost half an hour . "

"I remember this yeah , it was all because I remember you said before that day that you loved running in the rain but I didnt want to get soaked because it was a heavy rain and so we went after so I could make you a bit happier , I remember you looked sad all day then after that-"

"I was happy "

"You were happy" They said at the same time.

"Hey guys " Tyler spoke up through the call.

"Hey Ty I'm leaving soon " Katlin said into the screen , looking a little sad , Tyler nodded .

"I'm sorry i can't be there to see you go , Angus is excited to be getting into LA. He physically sat in his basket for 3 hours and didnt come out until we fed him tuna "Tyler chuckled as the cat in question jumped onto his lap.

"Speak of the devil and he shall appear " Mark recited as he got up to pee.

"Dont call my baby a devil" Tyler shouted playfully at Mark.

Hours later Katlin , Tyler and Mark were forced to hang up as it was time to go to the airport.

"Shall we ?" Mark said after he confirmed that she had everthing . They were in the car and all of the bags were in the boot , so the guessed it was time to go .

"We shall" She confirms as she leans back in the seat to check her social media. Mark had posted a picture on Instagram , the picture was of him and the car. With a caption 'back to the airport , see you guys soon' and Katlin could already see the comments asking 'where are you going ? ' or 'But didn't you just come back from Cincinnati?'

"People are going crazy over your latest Instagram post " She mentioned , as an after thought she added " did you mention why we're going to the airport?"

"No , why should I have?"

"No"

After a few hours Katlin' flight was called and her and Mark said their goodbyes . She couldn't help but value Mark more as a substitute brother when he made sure she had her necklace on and helped her put on Tyler' hoodie.

"See you in a few big bro" She muttered into his shoulder as they hugged goodbye.

"See you soon , the second is when I'll pick you up and I'll bring Lover boy with me "

As she boarded the plane and silently disagreeing with the safety measures they have , she couldn't help but get her necklace from around her neck and wrap it around her wrist and pull her hood up in the process .

"I don't need an aisle seat and I don't need my music on 40 for me to be calm " She whispered under her breath as she looked out of the window as the place took off .
