TRANLATIONS AT THE END

"Ready to go, mi rayo de sol?" Lin asked as he interlocked his hand in mine.
"What does that mean?" I said sticking my tongue out at him.
"It means my ray of sunshine in Spanish," Lin smiled at me. "And are you ready to go?"
"Oh! Yes!" I replied quickly grabbing my backpack which was filled with all my belongings.

We're not allowed to visit my old "home" because it is under police investigation so Lin went on a little shopping trip for me. Toiletries, an outfit which consisted of: leggings (yes!), a crop top which had a pattern of roses on it, and Adidas Superstars. Are a few of the things he put into my little backpack. He also won a little stuffed bear at a claw machine which he snuck into my arms while I was sleeping yesterday. And all my medical equipment. I was hesitant to accept all these gifts but Lin smiled and said: "Every foster fathers gotta spoil his little girl."

We soon left the hospital after a morning filled with tests, people prodding at me and bandages. We waved goodbye at the person on duty at the front desk and drove to my new home.

"Is it okay if we stop at Wendy's for dinner? I know it's not special but Vanessa has a case in court and I can't cook and neither can Sebastian..." Lin said keeping his eyes on the road

I didn't want to hurt Lin's feeling so I went with it. I should be grateful for what Lin gave me.

"Sorry, mi maní, I'll make something special tomorrow night, I promise." Lin said putting his hand on my leg.

I nodded my head and looked out the window. I could tell Lin was disappointed in himself but I was more disappointed in me. I was being ungrateful.

We soon arrived to the store and went inside. The line moved fairly quickly and we placed our order.
"One burger please." Lin said to the cashier. "With cheese, bacon and lettuce. Oh! And also one order of large fries. What would you like, Keira?"

"Oh, I'll have a Caesar salad, with Sprite please."

"For here or to go?" The cashier asked.

"To go." Lin said looking at me in the eye. I avoided his gaze and fiddled with my hands.

"Okay, that'll be $10.50

"I'm sorry mi maní, I should be more responsible next time. This isn't a very nice meal." Lin frowned as he took a bite of his burger.

"It's okay, I'm lucky you're feeding me something." I said avoiding his gaze yet again.

"Mi maní, I know something's wrong, tell me please." Lin pleaded trying to get my attention on him.

"It's just... Nothing. I'm fine." I said pushing my chair out from the table.
I ran to my room.

I heard Lin calling my name but I ignored it. I closed my door lightly trying not to make a scene and ran onto my bed. I dug myself under the covers and fell asleep to the sound of my crying.

I didn't deserve Lin. I deserved no one.

I don't know when it was but I woke up to someone singing something. I didn't know what it was but it was calming.

I opened my eyes. It was Lin. My eyes widened and scattered in a different direction.

"I know somethings wrong, please tell me, Keira."

"Lin, I don't know. I really don't." I stammer.

"Mi niña, you can trust me."
Trust me. Those two words killed me.

"Lin, you make me happy. But I think it's a fake happy. A happy that I don't deserve." I whisper pulling away from him.

Lin expression softened.
"I hope it's real happy. Because you deserve all the happy in the world."

I am back from my vacation!!!! That means updates every day until winter break is over. Which brings me to bad news.
