(A/N: I'm so butt hurt cause I bought a bra and it doesn't look good on my flat chest. One of my many teenage insecurities.)

"MAYA WAKE UP!" Riley exclaims and Maya looks up at her friend confused.

"What time is it?" She asks as Riley throws clothes at her  face.

"You slept in, I covered for you, thinking you'd be awake by now... and you weren't so now I'm having a heart attack. Why are you so tired?"  Riley asks, still rummaging through her closet until she spots some practice clothing for her friend.

Maya slides on a white dress, because it's the quickest thing she can manage to put on, and wears a green zip-up jacket. She pulls her wavy hair up into a messy ponytail that's extremely fluffy in the back, and slides on her sneakers she's owned for the past few years.

"No time for makeup today." Riley tells Maya while shoving her in the bathroom so she can only brush her teeth.

Maya rolls her eyes, brushes her teeth, shoves her practice clothing into her backpack, and then leaves with Riley, entering Billy's car.

Missy frowns at Maya, obviously discontent with the blondes actions. "What's going on with you and Lucas? He's coming back to school today, but he was only suspended because of something you did."

Sensing the venomous envy between the popular girl's words, Maya shakes her head, "Nothing. He just defended me because we're good friends."

"Uh huh." Missy says with disbelief, facing forward in the passenger seat now.

Maya and Riley exchange a look, acknowledging the fact that there's more to the story, but it's best not to finish the fairytale.

Once they arrive to school, Maya doesn't waste time rushing inside. She can tell by the short glances in her direction that her and Lucas are one of the main topics of the school today.

She makes her way toward Sarah, the girl that sits next to her in art class. "Hey." The blonde greets and Sarah smiles at her friend after fixing her glasses.

"Hiding from Missy?" She asks, revealing that she knows the gossip going around.

"Yeah." Maya admits and crosses her arms as she turns around to watch the popular girl as she makes her way down the hall.

"She makes out with everyone, why is Lucas so important?" Maya asks and Sarah follows Maya's stare.

Missy strides over to a group of girls with faces covered makeup, they're all very pretty, but some of them some of them just look like Oompa Loompas at this point.

They all have big smiles on their faces, because they all know they're important at the school and somehow they managed to get the right characteristics to be seen as gorgeous in society.

"They have this on and off thing. I think he's the one guy she actually likes, no matter how he treats her." Sarah replies.

Lucas enters, not failing his reputation, he's wearing a white shirt and black pants, he's got his stereotypical leather jacket on as well.

He scans the hall, and everyone goes completely silent for a moment before continuing their previous conversation.

Missy has an excited expression on her face, but it quickly fades as he approaches Maya and Sarah instead.

"I think you should say hi to your girlfriend." Maya tells him bluntly as soon as he's within a close distance.

Sarah awkwardly laughs, "I'm gonna go." She then shuts her locker and makes a run for it.

"She's cute." Lucas comments and Maya nods, "Yeah, you should probably try and date her too."

Lucas smirks and leans his hand against the locker, keeping his face close to hers, "Would you really want that?"

"Me? I wouldn't mind. But Missy over there looks as red as a tomato because you're talking to me instead of her." Maya tells him with her hands behind her back.

"I'll go deal with her. Nice hair by the way." He says and she feels her face heat up.

"I didn't brush it because I thought I was going to be late!" Maya shouts and then takes her hair and then forces it into a messy bun.

He laughs and pokes her nose, "Boop." She furrows her brows as he walks the other way.

"He just 'booped' me." She mutters to herself as she walks toward her class.

Lucas screams at himself in his head as he makes his way toward Missy. She frowns at him once he draws her attention.

"Why are you upset now?" He asks at the overly clingy and annoying Missy Bradford.

"You were flirting with Maya." She says coldly and her possi look at the pair and immediately leave them alone.

"So what if I was? We're not dating." He growls.

"Well next time you get mad, don't come crawling to me." she shouts and he scoffs, "You come to me. Not the other way around."

"And you don't ever tell me no!" She tells him. "No guy would reject that sort of offer." He argues and some guys eavesdropping nod in their heads in agreements.

She lets out a frustrated huff and strides off. Suddenly there's a scream and you can hear her yell "GET OUT OF MY WAY, DWEEBS!"

(A/N: that moment when you look bad but then you boop a girl and give mixed signals and are internally critiquing yourself because you almost kissed her the night before.)
