Maya left Nathan shocked, after storming out she went and purchased a hotel room under his name, unable to fathom staying with him on her first night back.
She felt disgusted, wondering how many women must of slept on her bed while she was away.
She looks at her phone, which has a reminder in bold black letters, Work tomorrow! Go to bed early :)
She cringes at the smiley face, the last thing on her mind was returning to work with pizza-faced teens who have wacko hormones and complicated love lives.
She kneels down and furrows her brows as she looks inside her suitcase, a paper airplane.
Inside, an address is written across it and she smiles, realizing it must be Lucas'. Below the address, it reads, If you ever need me, you're always welcome here.
She sighs, acknowledging the fact that she can't run away from her problems. Well she could... but she won't.
She decides to get some shuteye and to forget her ex-boyfriend for the night.
When she wakes up the next morning, she feels horrible, as if she didn't sleep at all.
She grabs a slightly wrinkled white dress and slides it on, masking the smell of misery with peach perfume (hence the nickname Peaches).
She pulls her hair up into a messy ponytail and slides on a pink sweatshirt over it.
She sighs, sliding her key card into her bra as a substitute for a pocket, exiting with an upset expression on her face.
At school, the place she dreaded as a teenager and at this very moment, she's immediately greeted by hugs, germs, and joyous smiles.
"H...hey?" She says to them and Jenna (the pregnant one mentioned in another chapter), waddles over to her friend.
"You still coming to my shower?" She asks and Maya smiles and nods.
"Good answer." Jenna replies.
"OKAY MARCEY. BRING IT IN!" She yells toward the door and a few other teachers are huddled behind a cake with scary grins.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU-"
Maya zones out until someone waves their hand in her face , drawing her attention.
Maya blows out the candles and they all cheer before taking their share from the cake.
Maya distributes it, not taking any for herself, she's not in the mood.

"I KNOW I CAN TREAT YOU BETTER, THAN HE CAN. AND ANY GIRL LIKE YOU DESERVES A. GENTLEMAN." Lucas sings while waiting patiently outside for Zay.
Zay hops in the truck and groans, "I swear to god, if you play this song one more time, I will literally shoot myself. In the head. Five times."
Lucas sighs, "I'm dyinggggg"
"You're lovesick, not drugsick. COME ON AND DRIVE WE HAVE WORK TO DO." Zay demands and Lucas lets out a little whine before driving out into the road.
"Do you think she got home alright?" Lucas asks for possibly the twentieth time.
Zay pulls out a gun app, and points his phone to his head, pressing a button that makes a gunshot noise.
He pretends to be dead and Lucas nods, "You're right. I should get a ticket and go ahead and visit her."
"Are you stupid?" Zay asks, "Maya is the strongest woman I know, why on Earth-"
"Yeah... I should leave as soon as possible!" Lucas tells himself and Zay rolls his eyes.
"I live with a psychopath." He whispers and then Lucas replays Shawn Mendes' Treat You Better song.
(A/N: So I haven't updated because I lost my phone forever ago and I just found it so yay and sorry)
