Olivia Barton tapped her foot impatiently. It was the annual Winter Dance in middle school, and her date had not arrived yet. Harry Badeaux was late as usual. They were best friends and had decided to go together, as neither of them had wanted to go with someone else.
Olivia was dressed beautifully in a dark blue dress with her hair done in curls. She was not a fan of makeup - just eyeliner, mascara and lip-gloss were enough.
"I swear to god I'm going to kill him," She muttered angrily when she noticed that he was supposed to be here an hour ago. "Maybe he decided to ditch me." She thought sadly, when she heard a rush of footsteps approaching her.
Harry looked out of breath, his wild curls flying everywhere. Olivia gave him glare, and looked away. He tapped her arm.
"What?" she asked irritated.
"Look what I got you."
When she turned her head back towards him, she saw Harry holding a large bouquet of the most beautiful blue irises she had ever seen. She gasped, and smiled as he tucked a flower into her hair.
"There, now you look even prettier."
Although they were late for the dance, Olivia could say without a doubt that this had been the best night in all of her fourteen years of life. Harry made her feel special, and when she was in his arms slow dancing, she realized that she felt safe, and at home.
