How It All Began

I guess it all starts at the beginning of senior year. Every year the Elites skips the first day of school. We've never gone and we've never felt the need to go. Everyone starts on Thursday, we start on Friday.

I walked into school on Friday, the first day of senior year with my head held high and my confidence soaring. I had finished applying to all of my colleges, my summer ended on a super sweet note, and Tucker Handerson, the school hotshot, had just broken up with his girlfriend, and I was on the move in. I was just waiting for him to ask me out.

My school loomed overhead as I walked under the archway with the school motto imprinted across it. My best friend, and blood sister, Bethany ran up to me blonde hair and bag flying everywhere. "OMG! I haven't seen you ALL summer!" She practically yelled.

"Well you were busy in the Bahamas with your boy and I was in the Hamptons all summer! What do you expect?" I laughed as I hugged her tightly. She was the only person I really missed this summer. Well... not the ONLY person...

All thoughts were erased from my head as Tucker walked up behind me and said, "Surprised to find you here Zoey, thought you'd have better things to do by now." He smiled and took off his sunglasses.

I swear when he did that time slowed down just for him. He took off his aviators and gently flipped his dark brown hair. When he looked at me with his light brown eyes, I melted. He was gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. This doesn't even include his six-pack beautiful body... no human being looks like this, he is some form of a perfect being.

Now I'm very hard to impress, but he did it. He impressed me. An all of us girls stood there gapping at him he put his arm around me and said, "Still mad at me for throwing you into the pool yesterday?"

His arm on my shoulders helped me to regain my senses and I quickly recovered. "Maybe. But I definitely feel better after I got you back on the slide." I took his arm off my shoulder, "I showed you who's stronger."

"Only because I let you win!" He laughed, "Now as much as I want to stay and chat, I still haven't printed out my schedule. Hopefully I'll see you in some of my classes this year Zoey." He winked and left us with Bethany gawking at his retreating back.

"He totally likes you!" Bethany squealed as soon as Tucker was out of earshot. "You didn't tell me you were with him all summer! Clearly something happened between you two. Spill!"

"Calm down Bethany! Yes I was with him this summer. After he broke up with Lisa he turned to me for support considering I was the only one he really trusted while we were at the Hamptons."

Ah, I can see this isn't really making much sense. I'll try to explain. Tucker and I have been friends for years, as have our parents. Every summer we go down to the Hamptons together, we get villas right next door to each other. He invited Lisa this year, but they broke up at the beginning of the summer and she had a friend come and pick her up. Tucker was obviously heartbroken, and he turned to me after it happened.

"We did get pretty close." I winked at Bethany and she swooned.

"Finally the king and queen are together! It’s been long enough." Bethany wrapped her arm in mine and we started walking towards the school.

"Don't say that too loud! We're not official yet!” I hushed her.

"Who's not official yet?" I heard a voice say slyly behind me. Only one person I know talks like that.

"Ria!" Bethany and I shout together. We break apart and gather her into a group hug. "It's so good to see you! How was your summer?"

"Eh, the usual. You know, parties, college girls, cheer camp. Nothing out of the ordinary, but who's with who? I've been out of service for three months! Update me!" Ria laced her arms through my other one and walked with us towards the school.
