“This is my second favorite spot in Rockley.” I said as we got out of the car. When we left the party we drove to the lookout.

The lookout is a small grassy parking lot on the side of a hill. It overlooks the small town of Rockley. Tucker and I got on the roof of his car and looked up at the stars.

“So what’s your favorite spot?” He asked with a small smile.

“I would tell you but then I’d have to kill you.” I said, dead serious. Tucker laughed and put his arm around me and pulled me closer.

A blast of cold air swept in and I shivered into Tucker’s chest. “You cold? I don’t have a jacket to give you I’m sorry.”

“God Tuck, you’re failing miserably at winning me over.”

“To make it worse, I would invite you over to watch a movie, but my uncle is home for the weekend.” I winced when he said that. His aunt is really cool and basically lets Tucker do whatever he wants, his uncle is the complete opposite. His uncle is a control freak and would sit with us, inbetween us, when we watched the movie. So not worth it.

“Let’s go back to my place, my parent’s are gone for the weekend. “

                                                …

I’m one of ten kids. At some point we all lived at home. A.K.A. my house is huge. I live on 400 acres of land with woods, a pond and a stream. In case you haven’t guessed yet, I’m loaded. Almost everyone in Rockley is. Rockley is small, but elite.

Just to help you out as you read this; my family (In no world do I expect you to remember any of this, I barely do):

Ricky- 24 and he lives with his wife Marci

Tyler- 21 and he goes to school at Bates College

Kelli- 19 and he took a year off of school and currently lives at home

ME!

Montana- 16 and he’s a junior in high schoo

Luke- 15 and he’s a sophomore in high school

Becky and Rockalyn- 13 and they are twins in 8th grade

Kenny- 12 and he’s in 7th grade

Emmett- 11 and he’s in 6th grade

Phew, there are way too many of us.

                                                …

About 20 minutes later we pulled into my drive and parked.

As we walked to the front door he grabbed my hand, which sent butterflies through my toes. I pulled out my key and barely got through the door before I was bombarded by Luke(15). “You know Montana wasn’t allowed to go to that party right?”

“Not my problem. Don’t you have video games or something to do?” I asked pulling Tucker into the hallway.

Kelli walked up to us and shook Tucker’s hand, “Hey Tucker good to see you again! Luke don’t you think it’s time for bed?” Luke rolled his eyes and stalked off to his room. “Anyway, did you see Montana?”

“Yeah, we offered him a ride before we left but he stayed. He seemed fine, not too drunk.”

“That’s good. He’s a good kid. He’s staying at a friend’s house tonight. Ricky had to get back. What are you two up too?” He asked.

“We’ll probably watch a movie or something. Tucker you want to go get us drinks?” I turned to Tucker. He nodded and went into the kitchen.

“Is it a done deal yet?” Kelli asked. He wants us together as much as I do.

“No, but it will be soon. We’re going to my room so please, please don’t disturb us. Let me take advantage of mom not being here. You know if she were here we’d have to go in the basement. Not that it’s much of a difference but still.” I pleaded with my eyes. If he said no I would bring up all those times I’ve covered for him or let him do things he shouldn’t have done.

“Calm down Zoey. Everyone’s asleep, I’m going to bed. All I ask is that if Montana texts you for a ride please wake me up or give him one.” Kelli smiled at me, “Go be 18.”

I laughed and Tucker came back into the hall. He handed me a bowl of popcorn and a soda. He started off up the stairs and I called out, “Tuck, over the summer I traded rooms with Tyler. I sleep in the loft above the barn now.”

Up until this past summer Tyler slept in the loft. But after my…accident…Tyler and I switched rooms. It was a miracle because sleeping with the horses helped me so much. I stopped having my nightmares. I’ve always slept better with the horses.

We made our way through the garden, down the driveway and across the top of the drive towards the barn. “I’ve never been in the barn loft before.” Tucker said.

“Then consider this your lucky night.” I opened the barn to the smell of horses. We walked down the aisle between the stalls and made our way to the ladder at the far end of the barn. I climbed up onto a small platform and opened the door to my room.

I heard a sharp intake of breath, “Wow, it’s…blue?” He asked confused.

I laughed taking off my shoes. “Blue and green are my favorite color combination.”

Tucker cautiously walked into my room and looked around. Looking back I can see how it’s overwhelming, opening my door the first impression you get are bright blue walls and a green carpet. I followed Tucker in and he was slowly walking around my room. He stopped at my desk on the far wall and was reading the quote painted in black above it. The good die young but the great will always last. On either side of the quote were windows overlooking a pasture for the horses. He turned away from my desk and looked around more. Draping my bed in a small alcove on the left wall were drapes, making a canopy above my bed. Straight across was a small dresser with a TV on it. Next to that was my vanity.  Strung throughout the room were colored lights both Christmas and icicle form.

“You’re thoughts?” I asked sitting down on the bed.

“Definitely an improvement from your last room.” He smiled at me and sat down next to me. I put my soda on my bedside table and walked over to my movie collection. “What do you want to watch?”

“Captain America.” He said without skipping a beat.

“You read my mind.” I smiled and put it in. All of a sudden I felt hands around my stomach lifting me off the ground. I started laughing as Tucker carried me over to my bed. He threw me down on the bed and laid down next to me. “Just to let you know I talk through movies. I’m the worst person you could ever watch a movie with.” I said.

“Then maybe I should kick you out and watch it by myself!” Tucker teased.

“I go and the popcorn goes with me.” I grabbed the bowl and held it to my chest. Tucker leaned while maintaining eye contact with me and tried to grab the bowl back. After a few tugs he leaned in and kissed me. Without breaking eye contact I placed the popcorn bowl on my bedside table. I scooted closer to him and he grabbed my waist pulling me closer.

“It’s a record. Five minutes in and we’re already kissing.” Tucker whispered when he pulled away.

“We did have a lot of…tension over the summer.” I whispered back.

“Looks like we have a lot of lost time to make up for.” He said, cutting of the last words as he leaned in to kiss me again.
