Over the course of their high school lives Paige and Caroline stayed in touch, but they weren't as close as they once were. Their letters became distant and not as long. They were at first once a week, by their senior year they were once every 2 to 3 months. Their letters also diminished in importance of events. They went from new relationships or exciting events to basic questions with little importance.
Paige's relationship with Mike went in the other direction, however. They went from lovers at first sight to being high school sweet hearts. They graduated with their names in the yearbook as "cutest couple", which surprised them greatly because they didn't see themselves as popular enough to be placed anywhere in the book.
"I cant believe that college has already come. In 4 months, we, well I, will be starting college, Michael," Paige was telling him. "I know, but it makes me really sad..." he told her. "I know, it makes me awfully sad as well. I don't want to part, but we can always call each other and write, and I guess if its meant to be we will stay together through it all!" Paige told him trying to lift his spirits. "Yeah, I hope. And on holidays we can see each other." "Yeah, at least Im not going all the way to the east coast! I could have gone to Harvard, but nope, Im going back to California, so its not too far." Paige had been accepted a few months back to the University of California at Los Angeles. Mike decided to go into the Air Force. "You though, who knows where they will throw you... Hopefully you will get to stay here!" "Yeah, thats something Im worried about. What if they send me to some post half way across the world?!" "If that is so then it shall be, but like I said before, if its meant to be we shall stay together through and through." Mike twiddled his thumbs and sorta smiled and sighed all at once. Paige got up off the bed and walked over to him. "I love you, Michael," she whispered in his ear as she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him. Mike held her tight in his arms. He moved his hand down to her knees and picked her up and took her over to his bed.
Mike laid her down softly on his bed as he kissed her. Muffled moans of "I love you" could be heard as they would release their kiss to get more air. Slowly Paige unbuttoned Mike's black shirt. Shortly after Mike was taking her shirt off as well. Paige rubbed her fingers up and down Mike's back giving him goosebumps all over. He lowered himself slightly, yet close enough that she could feel his warm breath on her. Mike started to slide his hand up her back to the clasp on her bra. "Michael," she whispered. "Yeah?" he questioned as he slide his other hand underneath her. She didn't answer as she was caught in the moment. He slowly unclasped her bra. She took it off the rest of the way and hugged him around the neck tightly. They continued to make out and slowly, but surely things fell into place.
The next day Mike asked Paige's father a question. "Reece?" "Yeah, son?" "Umm, can I take Paige somewhere tonight?" "What do you mean?" "Well we have our favorite oak tree at the park up that aways about a mile, and I was wondering if we could camp out under it tonight?" Reece looked at his wife. "Well, I don't care, as long as you don't cause any trouble for yourselves later down the road," Paige's mother told them, but her gaze was more directed at Mike. "Mike, go ahead, just don't be stupid," Reece told him. "Thank you sir!" Mike appreciated as a giant smile came across his face.
They went to the back of Mike's house and dug around the shed for his tent. "We haven't used it in a while, but it should be in here!" he called from within the shed. Paige just snickered as she say down beside the shed and waited. After a few more minutes of clattering and the occasional curse word, Mike appeared from the abyss of a shed to the outside with a giant folded tent in his hands. "Here it is, just need to dust it off," he chuckled. Paige grinned at the idea of the night that would follow. She was so excited to find out what all he had planned for them. While she was pondering, Mike started to set up the tent to make sure everything was there. "What are you thinking about darlin'?" Mike interrupted her thoughts. "Oh, just what all we are doing tonight, daydreaming." "Hopefully I can make your daydreams happen, then you can believe them." "I'd be a daydream believer then wouldn't I?" "Yes you would," he smiled. Paige decided to pitch in and help Mike. After a few minutes they had it set up. "Bigger than I thought," she admitted. "Haha, my big hands made it look small ya know... And ya know what they say about guys with big hands right?" He cheekily grinned. "They have small penises...?" Paige laughed hard. Mike punched her lightly in the shoulder. "You know thats not true," he snickered recalling her reaction from the other night. Just the thought of the other night made his pants seem 3 sizes too small in crotch suddenly. Paige didn't notice until she hugged him after her laughter. She covered her mouth and laughed. "Look what you do!" Mike laughed hard. "Im so sorry Michael! I didn't know I could do that that fast!" she exclaimed. "Girls really do underestimate their powers... Im going to go put on basketball shorts," he groaned. "I'll be here..."
