Damien sat in the back of a café, since it was too early to be drinking.
“Why do you worry about a lesser demon? She’s just another demon.”
“I told you, she’s different” Damien replied “I don’t know why”.
“Is the son of Dante in love?”
Damien snorted. “Don’t be an idiot”.
“Who’s being an idiot?” Someone asked, Damien looked up to see Vander.
“Vand?” Damien gasped. “What’re you doing here? Where’s Ashton?”
“He went on a mission. The customer wanted a proper demon for the job, so I had to stay behind” Vander replied, sitting opposite Damien “The real question, Big Brother, is why are you here?”
“Actually, I’m waiting for a coffee. Too early to drink.”
“You know what I mean.”
“I don’t think I do.”
Vander frowned. “Don’t play stupid with me. I’m not the same kid you left behind a year ago.”
Damien smiled, a light laugh escaped his lips.
“What’s funny?”
“You’re right. You’re not the same kid. The old you would have pouted at me and crossed his arms, now you frown and look like you’re about to shoot me.”
“Keep dancing around the question, and I will shoot you.”
“Make sure you shoot my leg, I haven’t developed our old man’s healing yet.”
“Damien Antony Sparda, quit being a prick.”
“Is that my middle name?”
“Yeah, how didn’t you know?”
“Mom hardly yelled at me when we were kids, normally it was you cause you’d get into the weapons. ‘Vander Marcus Sparda, put that hatchet down’ she’d yell.”
“Damien, quit changing the subject. Why’d you come back to Capulet City?”
“Research” Damien replied as a waitress put his coffee in front of him. “This is a city filled with demonic history. Fortuna is too, but I know everything I want to know there.”

Vander remembered what Rebellion had said to him the day before.
