Vander rolled over to drape an arm over Ash, but his arm landed on cold blankets. He opened one eye to see the other side of the bed was empty, which was very out of the ordinary.
Ash was never up before him. Unless Vander was hungover.
Vander rolled over again and rolled out of bed and trudged to the door. He peered out into the kitchen to see Ash standing at the counter, annoyance was written all over his beautiful face. Vander walked up behind him and wrapped his arms around his waist, resting his chin on his boyfriends shoulder.
“What’s wrong baby? You’re not usually up this early.” Vander said, holding Ash’s hand.
“I woke up with a shit feeling, turns out that girl from the other day was outside our door. She wanted to see Damien so I let her in. But I don’t want to sleep while she’s here.” Ash said, running his thumb over the back of Vander’s hand.
“Sylvia’s here? How long has she been here for?”
“About...an hour? A little less?”
“Hmm...I think I should check on them. Just in case.”
“Don’t take too long, we have that guard job soon.”
“Do you think you’re ready to go on it?”
Ash turned and kissed Vander on the cheek. “If I was ready to you-know-what last night, I think I’ll be ready for a job.”
Vander smiled and kissed Ash on the neck. “Okay then. I don’t think I’ll take too long checking on them.”
Vander detangled himself from Ash and walked back to the hallway, stopping in front of Damien’s room. He went to touch the door knob when he felt himself freeze. He didn’t know why, but he had a bad feeling. He forced himself to grip the cold metal and turn it cautiously. The door swung open and blew Vander into the wall on the other side of the hall. He looked through the door to see a portal, purple and red interlaced it and caused a strong gust of wind through the flat. Vander thought he could hear Ash calling him, but the wind was blowing too strong to hear. He saw two figures standing in front of the portal, the taller one turned to face Vander - piercing red eyes looked directly at him.
“Damien! You idiot!” Vander growled. There was a flash of self doubt in Damien’s blood eyes, but a gentle nudge from Sylvia made it disappear. Sylvia turned and looked at Vander too, her purple eyes were glowing also.
The two turned and walked though the portal, it closed behind them and the wind instantly stopped. Vander slid down the wall and took a inhaled sharply, his lungs felt like they were on fire. Ash skidded to kneel next to Vander and rested his hands on his boyfriends shoulders, worry laced his actions.
“Baby, are you okay?”
“I’m just winded,” Vander replied, looking up at the empty spare room. “Damien, the fucking prick.”
~A few minutes prior. In Damien’s room~
“Sylvia, there’s something I have to tell you.” Damien said, Sylvia sat up and looked at him.
“Yeah?”
“I don’t have a friend. I’m the one going to the underworld. I lied.”
“I knew that.”
“Umm...what?”
“I knew you were lying. I could tell. Plus, you aren’t the kind of guy to have friends. At all.”
“Thanks.” Damien replied sarcastically.
“Anything else you think I should know but I already know?”
“Nothing comes to mind.”
“Alright then, are you ready to go?”
“To..?”
“The underworld...silly.”
Damien was stunned, it was finally time. He could finally go and get everything over with. He didn’t know what he felt, all his emotions were running wildly. What if Vander walked in and saw he wasn’t there? Would he get pissed? Yes. Yes he would.
“Come on, while Vander’s still asleep.” Sylvia said, standing up. She turned and looked out the window, clearly giving Damien privacy to get changed. When he was dressed and his coat draped over his shoulders, Sylvia turned and smiled.
“Rugged and handsome as always.”
“What’s going to happen when we enter the portal?” Damien asked.
Sylvia rolled her eyes. “When we enter, we’ll be in a tunnel of darkness for a few moments. Don’t worry, I’m pretty good at driving portals. I’ll take us to the entrance of the Palace of Lucifer and I can take you inside. I know roughly where Igneil’s room is, but the problem is finding the artifact. Hopefully, Lucifer will stay dormant when we look. If he starts coming out way, I’ll know. I can distract him for a while, but if the artifact isn’t found and Lucifer isn’t convinced, use this capsule. It’ll portal you back to this world. Just think of a place really hard and you’ll be there.”
Sylvia handed Damien a capsule, he remembered these. Vergil had some.
“Alright, let’s go.”
Sylvia snapped her fingers, and the portal appeared on the wall beside Damien’s bed. Damien could feel his eyes change to red, he was probably reacting to the demonic energy. The wind that blew was strong, but Damien had to be stronger. He could hear his door open, then someone hit the wall. He turned and saw his little brother pinned to the wall by the wind. He was caught. Vander was going to be pissed.
Damien could feel Sylvia nudge him, and he remembered what he was doing. He walked through the portal along side her, he felt as if he was walking into water. The world was dark and warped, but after a few moments everything went back to normal. He opened his eyes and saw a large place in front of him. It looked like a large church, how ironic.
“Welcome to the Underworld, Damien Sparda.” Sylvia said.
