“DAMIEN!”
“YOU FUCKING BASTARD!”
“What are you doing?! Give me back my baby!”
“No, you can’t do this! Don’t do this! Please!”
Damien woke with a start, sweat dripped down his back and his hair. He ran his fingers through his damp hair and sighed in annoyance. This dream haunted him every time he closed his eyes, he was so tired it hurt. There was a faint white glow in the corner of the room, Damien turned to see it was Yamato. Ever since he received that blade, it had annoyed him to no end. Yamato was a particular sword, only obeying the one it wants to obey. It also felt the need to always mutter nonsense to Damien, its voice was sharp like the sound of steel against steel.
“The one who wishes more will lose in the end”
“Why don’t you ever shut up?” Damien asked, his voice weak from his lack of sleep “I don’t understand what the hell you’re talking about”.
“If you tell the answers, what is the point of learning?”
“Please be quiet” Damien whispered, slamming his fist against the wall. Within seconds, Nero walked into Damien’s room. He didn’t look much different from when he was a teen, besides the stubble on his chin.
“How many times do I have to ask you not to hit things?” Nero asked.
“The sword started it” Damien replied.
“Yamato chose you, so only you can hear it. Lots of demon swords talk to their wielders, I’ve heard Yamato is the wisest blade in existence” Nero said.
“All it does it talk in riddles, at least Red Queen reminds you when we run out of milk. Now that’s useful” Damien replied.
“Jealousy is the ugliest green in the forest”
“I’m not jealous!” Damien snapped at the blade.
“Those who lie about their feelings and intentions always die in the end”
Damien understood what Yamato meant by that, and he couldn’t help but glare at it. Nero had already left the room, but Damien hadn’t noticed.
“What my intentions are, is none of your business” Damien said.
“We are two of the same. Your dreams are my dreams, your intentions are my intentions, and your death is my loss”
“Just shut up, I never ask to own you or for your input” Damien replied, laying back down.
“Why do the living wish for the dead to return?”
“Vergil isn’t dead, I can sense it” Damien replied, resting a hand on his stomach where the long scar resided “And you can sense it too”
“Lucifer is the ruler of death for a reason, he will slaughter you”
“I know his weakness” Damien replied “I’m going to confront him and win, just you wait and see”.
“Will you be returning to Capulet City? The path between the demons and the humans is weakest there”
“I don’t have much of a choice, it’s the only way” Damien replied “Could you please shut up now so I can try and sleep?”
“Memories haunt your dreams, and reality haunts your conscience”
“I said, shut up” Damien replied, closing his eyes and trying to relax again. But sleep never came to him twice in a row, not anymore.
