Knocking On Your Heart // ongoing

Peter is Alina's boyfriend, but I guess you could say he's loved by numbers of people, including my sister and my dad. It's hard to believe that both of them is not around anymore considering we used to be in the same group and always hang out with each other. My dad was always asking where they never come around anymore, and my answer? :

"we all just went separate ways after middle school, dad"

  My dad adores both of them very much, maybe because of their personality back then. I mean it: even I have to admit that it's not hard to love Peter, and Alina. He also likes Peter because Peter always tends to help him with the "boys work", like fishing, fixing things, and more. I still remember when my dad accidentally ran the car into the garage door, and I cried when my hot chocolate spilled all over my lap, and my sister Julia cried because she was practically a baby back then.

  Julia loves Peter because he'll come back with stamps for her from different places that he went with his family. She collects stamps. They make deals with each other—one stamps equal a toasted bacon-and-egg-sandwich. But that deal seems to only benefits Julia only, not that it matters to Peter. But that's Julia for you.

  Peter is the only one apart from Violet from the other four that spends the most time with my family. The others, Alina, Colin, Emily tends to spend their childhood more "openly", at least that's what they said.

  But all of that was from middle school. Because I'm not 12 and Julia is not 6, Peter doesn't come around, and there's no gang anymore. Things just kind of different than I thought it would after middle school ended. 

  After Emily moved to Oregon, which is across the country from Virginia. Middle school had come to an end and not long after, high school started before we even settled ourselves. Me, Peter, Alina, and Colin kind of just branched out by the beginning of high school.

   Or maybe, It's me who've branched out from them.

  By the end of eight grade, Vi got kicked out of school because of her drug use in school. Sometimes, I would be thinking to myself that I don't know her enough. Enough that she would listen to my advice to stop her drug use and other sexual things at the age of 13. I tried to keep in touch after she left, I swear to god I tried, I tried so hard. But like they said, you can't force someone to stay if they don't want, to begin with. For a mere part of eight grade, I thought we were best friend. 

  Violet would say to me: " you're my best friend, Mags, I promised we'll always keep in touch, it's not like I'm moving to a different state." 

  Wrong. That's one of the lessons I learned, it's not about the distance between us, it's about if the person wanted to make an effort to come and see you. They could live 20 minutes away but wouldnt bother to come visit you anyway. 

  From what I remember, I practically stayed to myself during freshman year. Until Joanna came along and we started hanging out. She's with me until now. Alina and Colin dated back in freshman year as well, I kind of saw that coming, though. Since the spring of eight grade, I would see Colin acting a bit weirder than usual, and he would look at Alina most of the time whenever we play truth or dare. Rumours had it that by the summer between eight and ninth grade, they got together. And by the end of freshmen year, they lose their virginity to each other. Sadly, though, by the winter time of sophomore year, Alina dumped him.

  However, it doesn't stop there, because, by summer between sophomore and junior year, she got together with Peter. Sometimes, I would wonder if Peter and Colin still talk like the old days, considering what's been happening with both of them, and Alina. She's like the anchor to everything if you ask me. She's the first girl in our grade to strut around in a pair of Valentino and a Chanel bag by eight grade, she grew up fast, because by eight grade she's already 5'4 feet tall with beautiful long blonde hair. People often ask me for my "sister" number when we went to the local mall, that's in eight grade to be exact. She's also the first person in our grade to have a DJ over at her party, or should I say, her dog's birthday party.

  I used to be so jealous of Alina, with her long blonde hair and her beautiful poodle puppy. That jealousy was from sixth grade. But now, my jealousy is that she's dating Peter Chapman.

  It's weird actually, because of all those time during middle school, I never felt anything towards Peter. I don't know how these feelings stir up during the summer to junior year.

  Maybe I do know. Of how after that one summer party during the summer before junior year, he came up to me and we talked. It surprised me at the time that after all this time, he still remember my existence. I'm glad that at least someone from the past remembers me, even though it feels like forever ago since was the last talk, but really it was just 2 years. There's some changes and similarities in him I saw within that one conversation, how he got more confident and his smiles became even more beautiful. Maybe that was when I fell for him, Peter and his charms.

  Everything doesn't really add up when I heard about him and Alina that same summer from Joanna. I was painting my nails when Joanna called:

 " Guess what!"

 " What?"

 " Peter and Alina is together!"

 I swear the clock stopped ticking at that moment. " Wait what?"

 " I know! Its crazy, I mean, considering Peter and Colin is closed friends and all"

 " Well, I guess they're not that close to follows the bro codes"

 " Yea. Apparently, Madison told me that they hooked up at her party 2 weeks ago, remember? You also went to that party" Her mom calls Jo's name, and she said, "Hey I gotta go. See you soon at school, junior years gonna be lit." Jo hangs up without a goodbye, it's like her habit to not do so.

  I kept thinking to myself for the rest of the night, why would he kiss me at that party to go and hooked up with Alina right after? It just doesn't make sense. Besides, Peter is the good friend with Colin, why would he do that to his own friend? Ones he'd been friends with since fifth grade, they're practically bros. And from what I last heard, Colin still have feelings for Alina, 6 months is long, but not long enough to heal Colin's broken heart.
