(Name) woke up the next morning to Francis having his arms wrapped around her just like he was when she had fallen asleep. (Name) stayed as still as she could so she wouldn’t wake Francis up, but she snuggled closer into his arms to enjoy his warmth even more. She laid her head on his chest and listened to his steady heartbeat. Just listening to it made her feel just a bit better giving everything that had happened recently. All of her memories rushing back to her at once was not one of the best things for someone to experience.

Even so, she could still only hope that her father was still alive. That was one of her biggest concern besides staying away from the sorcerer and saving her world as well as Francis’s world. She had no idea what had happened to her father after she had risen to the surface, but she was determined to find out once she was able to become a mermaid again.

She kept wondering when that time would come but at the same time she also didn’t want to leave Francis, Arthur, or Allistor behind. They were the best friends she ever had, especially Francis. She would be sad to leave them but she had to do something in order to save her family and friends back home.

After a while of just thinking to herself she felt Francis shift under her and sat up as he started to wake up and stretch his arms out. Francis opened his eyes and saw (Name) leaning up over him and he couldn’t help but to smile at the very sight of her. He sat up slightly and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. “Good morning, (Name),” Francis said. “I hope you slept well.”

“As well as I could,” (Name) said. “I couldn’t stop worrying about my dad and everyone else I used to know.”

Francis sat up straight and patted (Name) gently upon her head and smiled reassuringly at her. “Don’t worry, (Name). I’m sure everyone you know is alright.”

“How can you be sure, Francis? Anything could have happened to them by now...”

“Don’t think about any of that. That’ll only make you worry to death. Just think about them waiting for you at home.”

“They’ll be waiting for a while if Arthur and Allistor can’t turn me back into a mermaid soon.” (Name) buried her face in her hands and started to sob silently. “I feel so useless… I can’t do anything to help like this…”

Francis hugged (Name) and pulled her closer into his arms. “Please don’t cry, (Name). Everything will be okay. You’ll at least be able to fight for yourself now that you have your powers back.” Francis ran his fingers gently through (Name)’s hair to help her relax. “Besides, you still have me to protect you, along with Arthur and Allistor. You have nothing to worry about.”

(Name) sniffled and rubbed the tears out of her eyes and off of her cheeks. “B-but what about my father?”

“Your father would want you to be in safe hands, (Name). He sent you here to us for that purpose, no? The best thing you can do for him is to stay safe until Arthur and Allistor perfect their spells and can send you back home.”

“That’s another thing…” (Name) finished wiping the tears from her face and looked up at Francis. “I’m scared to leave… I don’t want to leave any of you behind… I would miss all of you…”

“And we’ll miss you, (Name), but none of us can keep you from your home. You need to do everything in your power to help save your home.”

(Name) sighed and fell against Francis’s chest as he continued to do the best he could do to comfort him. “I guess you’re right… I just don’t know what to do…”

“It’s okay, (Name). You’ll figure everything out in time.” Francis pulled back slightly and crawled off of the couch. “For now let’s just worry about what we’re going to eat for breakfast. I can make some pancakes if you want. Though I should probably call Matthew first, he would kill me if I made pancakes and didn’t invite him.”
