Francis sat in shock from hearing the news from Arthur. “You can’t be serious, can you?” His fears were confirmed when looked down to (Name) who was still trembling in his arms, clinging to him for dear life as tears started welling up in her eyes.
“I’m very serious, frog,” Arthur said. “And it seems like just moving her somewhere else won’t do much good. He’ll still be able to distinguish her presence in a crowd.”
“We know it’s sudden,” Allistor said, “but it happened and we weren’t able to stop it.”
“There has to be something we can do,” Francis said. “He’s a threat to (Name)’s life. We can’t just let him take her away.”
“We don’t plan on letting that happen without a fight,” Arthur said. “You should know that by now. We just need to do whatever we can to protect her.”
Antonio and Gilbert stood in the doorway looking puzzled but it was obvious that they were both concerned about (Name) given the situation they were about to deal with. “I don’t know exactly what’s going on,” Antonio said, “but is there a chance that we could help?”
“Hell no,” Allistor said. “This is far beyond your understanding. You two would only get in the way.”
“Well there’s no way in Hell we’re just going to sit here and let anyone get hurt,” Gilbert said. “We may not have magical pixie dust or whatever the hell you guys have, but that doesn’t mean we can’t help protect (Name).”
“We said no,” Arthur said. “You wouldn’t be able to fight what’s coming in a million years.”
“And you’re saying that you can?” Antonio said. “This wizard guy doesn’t sound to safe to begin with but what are you going to do against him by yourselves?”
“Everything we can to keep you bastards alive, that’s what,” Allistor said.
“So you expect us to stand by and do nothing while you all risk your lives?” Gilbert said, clenching his fists by his sides. “Francis is one of our best friends, and I’ll be damned if we let him go off to fight while we stay behind.”
“Same goes for me,” Antonio said. “It’s too dangerous.”
“Too dangerous for you anyway,” Allistor said. “You two just need to go home and stop worrying about us.”
“Would you all cut it out?” Arthur said, sighing under his breath. “I agree that this is dangerous, but there’s only so much we can do to stop it.” Arthur looked towards Antonio and Gilbert, then to Francis and (Name). “And we’re not going to make Francis stay and fight. As a matter of fact, I want you all to get out of here now. Get as far away as you possibly can and keep (Name) safe.”
“What?” Francis said. “But what are you two going to do?”
“We’re going to stay here and fight in case the guy comes, obviously,” Allistor said.
“No,” Arthur said, “I’m staying here. You’re going to go with them.”
“What the hell, Arthur? I’m not going to leave you here by yourself. You won’t be able to last by yourself.”
Arthur shook his head. “You’re underestimating me again, Allistor. I’ll be fine. If they’re planning to escape with (Name) then they’ll need you to be there with them in order to keep them safe.”
“And just what are you going to do if you aren’t able to handle it alone?” Allistor tried to hide the concern in his voice, but it was still clear on his face. It wasn’t like Arthur wasn’t capable of fighting on his own, but fighting against a stronger magical force was a completely different story.
“As I said, I’ll be fine. If things get too tough, then I’ll just call Dylan over to help. If anything, I’ll be able to stall the sorcerer for long enough for you to get everyone to safety.”
“Are you sure that this is what you want to do?”
“Yes, I’ve already made up my mind. Just get them out of here as quickly as you can.”’
Allistor sighed under his breathe and nodded. “Fine them. You be careful, alright?”
“I’ll be fine, don’t worry about me. Worry about them.”
“Whatever you say.” Allistor started heading out the door and motioned for Francis, Gilbert, and Antonio to follow him. “Come on, we need to start leaving then.”
Francis stood up while carrying (Name) in his arms. Antonio and Gilbert hesitantly followed Allistor out of the door.
“What are you waiting for, frog?” Arthur said. “Go ahead and leave.”
Francis nodded and started heading out the door before stopping in the doorway and turning to face Arthur. “You’re still my rival, you know,” Francis said.
“Yeah, what about it?”
“That means that you can’t die without my permission, of course.”
Arthur remained silent for a moment before shrugging and looking away. “Oh shut it, frog. I’m not going anywhere. Now hurry up and go.”
“Very well.” Francis kept (Name) held tightly in his arms before he turned around and walked out of the room, catching up with Allistor, Gilbert, and Antonio as they were starting to leave the house.
