After school, I stepped out into the blistering heat of August and looked around.
"There you are!" A familiar voice chimed in as someone's hand grabbed my shirt.
I turned around and smiled, "What are we waiting for, dude? Let's go!"

We started walking away then a shrill female voice pierced through the sky, "Sollux Captor, where do you think you're going?!"

"Oh god," I sighed and turned around, "Hello, FF."

"Don't you FF me, Sollux! Why have you been ignoring us? Why have you been ignoring me?" She tapped her foot impatiently.

"I got a new buddy," I smiled, "And he's a lot cooler than you."

She gasped and retracted, "How could you, Sollux?! After all we've been through?"

"I met you last year," I said, deadpan.

"Y-yeah, but I uh-"

"Nothing, FF. See ya tomorrow."
I grabbed Eridan's arm and we walked away, ignoring Feferi's unsightly protests.

"Is she gonna be okay?" Eridan asked after we walked in silence for a while.

"Ah, don't stress over her. It's her nature to be overprotective. She'll probably yell at me more tomorrow but it's cool."

"She shouldn't," he looked down, "that's not right."

"Yeah?" I smiled and nudged him, "since when did you care so much about me?"

He flushed and looked away, "I-uh, it's uh-"

"I'm playing, you don't have to answer that," I shook my head, "so which Black Ops do you have?"

"What do you mean which? I have them all!"

I laughed, "There's only three."

"Yeah but uh..." he looked at the ground then looked up, "Hey, there's my house. Come on!"

He raced around the corner. He might have been small but dang, he was fast. I caught up to him as he was opening the door.

"We should have things in the fridge so help yourself if you get hungry. I'm gonna go set up the game."

He went inside and I followed. The only problem about ED's house, though, was that it was sweltering. Hotter than outside, even. I groaned and threw my bag down and pulled my shirt off. He came around the corner, "Hey, it's all rea-" His mouth dropped open when he saw me.

"I-is this okay? It's kinda hot in here and I-"

"Yes, yeah, that's uh, that's fine!" He was pretty much a tomato by now.

I laughed and said, "Alright, well let's get to the game!"
