Tyler was perched upon his bed as he held tightly to the golden stuffed animal in his chubby hands, as he whispered to it in the smallest of voices.
"Goldie, when Jishwa gave me you he said you'd keep me safe. Jishwa doesn't lie to me because I'm his Honey-Bee," Tyler mumbled to reassure himself as he held the stuffed puppy to his chest and curled his fingers in its soft faux fur.
Soon enough he heard the door open downstairs and his father's heavy footsteps climbing the stairs. Tyler whimpered as he looked out of his window and prayed Josh would save him, but he knew the small boy always did.
Joshua was always there for Tyler when he needed him, whether it was after an argument his parent's had or he skinned his knee on the stairs; Joshua was always there.
"You know what, you don't even try anymore Kelly! You let our son lock himself away in his room all day, you don't cook, you don't clean. We're not happy. I'm not happy."
Tyler coward under his bed sheets as his body trembled in fear at his father's raised voice. Tears spilled from his doe eyes as he held the stuffed animal tighter and wiped his running nose on his arm.
"I'm so sick of you acting like taking care of you is my only priorities, Chris! I do take care of Tyler and I do my best to do everything to make you happy, but my best is never good enough. Being a housewife isn't as easy as you make it out to be," Kelly screams as her rough voice echoes and slips through the wall; swimming in Tyler's delicate ears.
A small sob shook his trembling body as a small hiccup fell past his lips. When Tyler heard the loud crashing noise, he climbed to his feet and jerked his bedroom door open. He ran down the stairs with Goldie in tow as he quickly opened the door and ran to the house next door.
He ran across the yard barefooted and still in his pajamas as he stood in front of the door he knew all to well. His little hands balled into fists as he knocked harshly against the wooden, yellow door.
The door swung open to reveal Laura as she looked down to Tyler with worried eyes, "Oh, Tyler, are you okay?"
Tyler just nodded as he held Goldie closer to his chest and wiped at his red, puffy eyes, "No, momma and daddy are fighting and I want Jishwa."
Laura sighed as she opened the door wider and let the small boy into her house, she hated seeing Tyler like this. He was such a sweet boy and didn't deserve any of it, yet he always turned up outside her door a couple times a week with teary eyes and asking for Josh.
"Josh, Tyler's here," Laura called as she kneeled in front of Tyler and took his face between her hands.
"Tyler, honey, promise me you won't run outside barefoot anymore, it's dangerous and you could cut yourself and get really sick."
Tyler nodded but pulled from her gentle grasp as the sound of Joshua's feet descending the stairs filled his ears and his curly haired friend appeared. He wasted no time running into his arms without any hesitation. Joshua didn't even think twice as he wrapped his arms around Tyler's shaking frame and carded his fingers through the fluffy brown mess.
"Shh, Honey-Bee, m'here. You and Goldie are safe now."
Tyler just nodded against his love's chest with a small whimper.
"J-Jishwa m'sleepy," Tyler mumbled as he rested his cheek against Joshua's small shoulder and closed his eyes. Joshua was the only one that put his mind at ease and made him feel like everything was going to be okay.
"Momma, me and Honey-Bee are sleepy," Joshua whispered as he carded his fingers through Tyler's fluffy hair and kissed the younger boy's forehead.
"You two go get some sleep and I'll call Tyler's parents to let them know he's okay," Laura smiled as she walked into the living room and left the two boys alone.
"Come on, Honey-Bee, I'll protect you," Joshua smiled at his love as his heart stuttered and did everything but stop; as long as he had Tyler his heart would never stop.
Tyler only nodded along as he followed Joshua up the staircase and to his room. They crawled under the racecar printed sheets and cuddled up to one another. Tyler's head was buried between Joshua's neck and shoulder as his love held him close to his chest and ran a free hand up and down Tyler's back soothingly.
"Thank you, Jishwa."
Joshua smiled widely as he tightened his grip on the small brunet lying in his arms and whispered his reassurance, "Anything for you, Honey-Bee."
Joshua was always quick to reassure his honeybee when he felt that Tyler was down, he thought Tyler only deserved love and flowers. The small brunet was always Joshua's main focus. Tyler was his bestfriend, his honeybee.
Soon Tyler's breathing shallowed and his chest rose and fell at a even pace, and only then did Joshua close his eyes and allow himself to drift off to sleep with Tyler and Goldie pressed to his chest.

I just want to say that I'm writing this fic to incorporate my childhood with a twist. This fic does in fact have a meaning to me, and it's the most important to me. I plan on having a nice balance of happiness and sadness within it.
I love you, my lil' spookies💞
