Zoe's POV
"I told her not to except me to always go by her unbelievable rules, 'I'm in boarding school for crying out loud mom.' What more do I need? How much worse could it get.""My mom thought I was a spoiled brat. I mean thanks mom, more boys to sneak around with."
"Emma, you slut."
"Zoe, live a little."
We shared laughs, but I had to go. Off to my daily duties, I walk to the basketball court, why? Well, I relieve my stress there, my mother is a pain in the everywhere and I always need to let go.
Amazing, 10 scores in a row, NBA where you at?
I shower myself with compliments, what can I say? I'm a natural."Professional huh?" I almost seem frustrated, about to get outraged by the total lack of privacy, but just after I looked behind I noticed the person who interrupted me was a tall, and might I say a very attractive guy, I couldn't help myself but just stare for a little while.
Snap out of it.
Okay I'm back to reality."So it's true. The new cute boy has been lingering around the halls."
"Cute? You find me cute? I'm offended. I happen to think I'm more than just a fluffy puppy." He crosses his hands and raises an eyebrow in amusement.
"New boy's already getting ahead of himself. What are you doing here?"
"I linger around the halls. Didn't you hear?"
Someone's a mocker."Well, I'm usually here to relieve my stress, so if you don't mind. Please leave."
"I actually want to stay, so." He walks closer to court.
"Fine. Suit yourself. But if you're going to stay, might as well shoot some hoops with me huh?"
I pass the ball to him.
A few games later.
Wow. He's good. I'm not surprised though."That's it, I beat you. I'm better than you." He smiles in victory as he attempts to moon walk.
"It's the height, that height helps you." I defend myself while my shaky finger is pointing from his head to his toe. That boy was good. But it must be the height people.
"I'm 6'1, nothing too tall. So don't use that as an excuse hot stuff." He winks, passes the ball and attempts to walk away. I do admit, when he called me cutie it got me all flustered.
"Hey, what's your name?"
"Hunter." He gives me a very subtle yet powerful look in his eyes, so smooth. Then turns his head back and he walks away without a care in the world.
"So his name was Hunter." I kneel on my bed facing the two most reliable friends I had. Emma and Chung.
"Oooh, Hunter. Was he hot?"
"Hasn't she mentioned that more than a million times Emma, keep, up." Chung rolls her eyes, I couldn't help but laugh.
"Oh sorry. I just like to be reminded. Plus, I want to see for myself." Her eyes scream sexual awakening.
"Hey, Emma, I know you're known for being a notorious thief but this ones mine." I scoff.
"He's not an object guys. Let nature take its course." Chung walks the other side of the room to get a hair brush.
The reason as to why the three of us are all friends, is because we were all lucky enough to share a room in this terrible boarding school. Thank god we were all so compatible despite all our differences. We still make it work together.
We all fall asleep in the hopes of meeting tomorrow.
*weird disco music playing.*
"Jesus." I awaken. "It's 6 am in the morning why? It's Sunday guys."
"Monday actually, and it's a new alarm. Like it?" Chung hits snooze as she sits on top of her bed.
"No. It's... Loud. And very 80s, and it reminds me of dead people." Emma. The beast has awaken.
"Salty." She rolls her eyes.
"I can't keep time with these weekdays guys, I'm just focused on getting the hell out of here. I miss home." I rub my watering eyes.
"We're all a little home sick. You just took way more time to adjust. Now guys. Let's get ready for class." Chung heads off to the shower leaving me breathless, tired as well as hot and what's the worser version for torture? Anyway. That was basically my emotion.
Before I could sleep, I kept thinking about meeting the handsome new guy in the basketball court. He seems different, but to be fair I barely even know him so I'm not sure if I'm in the place to talk. He does seem a little bit arrogant.
But right now, that isn't really important to me. I honestly, really miss my home and family, right now, I'm in bed, keeping up with my social media as much as I can, noticing all these posts from my family, having fun, bonding and going out. I just don't understand why I had to go to boarding school and be apart from them. Don't get me wrong, I love the friends I have here, they're really nice and I couldn't feel anymore welcome, but I'm extremely home sick."Are you okay Zoe?" Emma walks over to my bed and notices my obvious unhappiness.
"No." I bluntly say.
"Is it about your family again?" She sits down and holds my hand.
"You're not wrong, once again. Sorry for being such a downer."
"You are not a downer. Zoe, I understand. You're home sick, lots of people here are. And we've said this a couple of times, you've just taken a while to adjust, and honestly I do see that you're trying your best to cope with it, you came here not long ago. You haven't even been here a year, and it has been quiet a short amount of a time, don't worry about it. I want you to know that it's not a bad thing, it's not bad to miss your family, it's not bad to miss home, it's not bad to feel." She wipes down the small tear that streams down my face. I don't want to cry, I don't want to seem weak or helpless, and I'm trying to bottle it all in.
"Wow Emma, that's the smartest thing I've heard you say." I giggle.
"Oh shut up." She laughs. "Now goodnight Zo." She hugs me goodnight. Her advice honestly made me feel a lot better. I'm not saying I'm always sad about being home sick but once in a while, definitely more than others, it gets to me.
