I lost him.
"There you are." He jumps in front of me out of nowhere.
"Yeah hi." I awkwardly meet eyes with him then quickly look away.
"We need to talk." Oh god. That sounds pretty scary. What did I do now.
"Talk? Talk about what?" I begin to fidget with my fingers, I can't deny my heart is racing and I'm freaking out right now.
"Relax. You're moving a lot." Him telling me to relax only makes me want to move even more.
"So, do you talk about me to your friends?" He squints his eyes and looks into my eyes in a more serious way. I'm not sure if I should lie, because I'm pretty sure he already knows the answer to his question.
"No, not really why?" I lie.
"Don't lie to me." He moves closer. He's really making me feel uncomfortable right now, I also really can't help to blush about how close he it to me right now.
"I just told them that 'the new guy and I played basketball', but that was it." I shrug and try not to look into his eyes again. They're basically hypnotic.
"Oh. Well they really don't know how to keep it on the down low then." He scoffs, but he's not wrong.
"Tell me about it." I bite my inner cheek in embarrassment. I knew he knew.
"It's cute or whatever." He smirks a bit then goes back to acting like he doesn't care.
"Why didn't you just come up to me and ask me about it. I'm really tired just from following you." I place both of my hands of my waist trying to portray a certain attitude similar to his, like I didn't care, but deep inside, I really do.
"Because. What fun would it be?" He winks at me and walks away. God I don't know if I hate this guy or I have a humongous crush on this guy. Either way they both bother me.
I walk back to Sophie.
"Hey where've you been? Practice is ending in 20 minutes."
"I just took a walk. You wanna go grab something to eat after this?" I try to avoid the topic, Sophie may be a goof but she's definitely not stupid. She probably knows it has something to do with Hunter.
"Yeah. Plus I'm pretty sure Flynn would want something to eat after the game." She nods and subtly smiles.
"Alright guys that's it for today." The coach blows the whistle while everyone heads off to the changing rooms.
We sit down awkwardly while we wait for Flynn to finish up refreshing. I keep looking away from Sophie, I really don't want to talk about Hunter, he basically accused me of talking about him behind his back, which he wasn't wrong about. Doing that again, makes me feel uncomfortable, like he just knows even though he isn't here, and guilty which is stupid."I'm not going to ask you about your, I mean the new guy." She tries looking at my face which basically is looking away to another universe with my long neck stretched towards a completely different direction.
"Sophie. I don't even like him that much as a person. So there's really nothing to talk about." I shrug.
"Oh here's Flynn." She stands up and offers to help me up as well.
"Ready to go eat, Flynn?" I rub my stomach in large circles stating that I'm hungry.
"Of course. I'm starving." She slaps his belly continuously. "Race you?" He runs to the cafeteria before we could catch on, we follow him.
"Flynn. I'm tired! Slow down!" Sophie wines.
Why is everything in this school so damn far.
"I'm feeling pizza guys." He puts his bag on a nearby chair while we're both still trying to hold our breaths.
"I'm feeling a burger." Sophie buries her head in her hands on the cafeteria table.
"I guess we're sharing a pizza then Flynn." We take our orders and we're now waiting for our food.
"So how'd you guys think I did?" Flynn looks at the both of us with the widest smile on his face.
"I don't think Zoe had the time to focus." Sophie chuckles while I elbow her arm.
"You did great Flynn. You're probably the best on your team." I defend myself before I get exposed and asked lots of questions.
"How would you know Zoe? You weren't even looking." She lets out a loud laugh, she cannot do this to me right now.
"Thanks Zoe. Soph, what makes you say that?" He supports his face with his hands showing interest in what she's about to say.
"She's just joking. As usual." I widen my eyes and avoid talking about more of the conversation by looking for the food. "Oh here's the pizza." Oh thank god, food is a great distraction.
"Ooh can I have some." Sophie reaches her hand out for the pizza.
"Ah ah ah. You ordered a burger, you eat your burger." Flynn winks at her as he shoes her hand away from our pizza.
"So how did practice go for you?" I try to make conversation, I just don't want the conversation to somehow land on Hunter.
"Great, I really want to play the big games in the future, coach says I'm the best on the team." He stuffs the pizza into his mouth glancing at Sophie, noticing her drooling over it.
"Honestly you were great, the best. Now can I have some pizza?" She vaguely smiles at him.
"Can I have some of your fries?"
"You can have all of it. I just want a slice." She excitedly rubs her hands together and digs in.
We talked about lots of stuff for about 30 minutes. Sophie and Flynn got to know more about each other, she was also extremely curious to know about Flynn and his "mystery girl" (Victoria).
"Guys this has been a bomb ass day. And a bomb ass meal. But I'm gonna go hang with my mystery girl." He winks at Sophie and hugs me goodbye.
"Who is she?" She pouts at me hoping I'd give her answers.
"A mystery girl." I pat her shoulder and hug her goodbye. I could see her roll her eyes unamused, but she always finds away to know everything, that's Sophie for you.
I walk about 10 minutes outside, and notice that Hunter and that same girl I saw today were hanging out together again. Should I follow them? Should I not? No that's a really low move, he already knows I've been talking to people about him, he'll think I'm more of a weirdo if I stalk him and who ever that girl is.
Eventually... The thought stopped crossing my mind, I needed to rest and let that pizza digest anyway...
