It's already lunch after five periods. I made sure to stay very far away from him. I mean he probably asked that gorgeous girl out. He's gorgeous, she's gorgeous I can see it working out, at least that's what I keep trying to tell myself.
Emma got detention, it's not very unexpected, and Chung has piano. I sat alone in the basketball court with nothing at all to do but gaze at the ground, I didn't really mind being alone but some company never really hurt.
"It's a little cold outside don't you think?" A familiar voice sits right beside me.
"Flynn!" I give him a big hug, I was honestly excited to see Flynn, he's been there for me ever since I started school here.
"What's new Zoe?" He takes my hand and places it into his.
"Nothing really. School is boring as always. But you, you always have something to live for, so do share." I desperately look at him trying get some information, he always has something interesting about his life to share, I think that's the best part of our friendship.
"I always have something for you Zoe. But you've honestly made my life at school something." He stares into midair and randomly smiles, he snaps back to reality a few seconds later. "But there's this girl, nothing special, I've been showing her around the town, and we've been sneaking out to the nearby beach every single night."
"Ah, that's why you've always been ditching dinner, for the past week.. Well, your life seems to be clearly more interesting than mine... So who is she?"
"Victoria." He gives off a proud smirk.
"She's gorgeous. Good for you." I playfully punch his arm.
My back begins to hurt, in a matter of minutes as the pain got more severe I decide to lay my head on Flynn's lap.
"Yeah but you're gorgeous too. Better than her by far." He flicks my nose. "This cute nose."
"Your nose is better than mine, very beautiful, and that narrowness, wow, gets me hot and bothered." I fan myself emphasizing on my sarcasm.
"I know." He flaunts by raising his eyebrows and twitching his nose, awkward and funny at the same time. It follows by our thunderous of laughs.
"Do you have soccer today?" I get off his lap, hoping the answer would be yes, I need something to fill in my empty schedule.
"Yeah. You can come over and watch." He helps to fix my messy hair caused by lying on his lap.
"Way ahead of you on that one." I have nothing, to, do.
"Zoe!" A girl jumps over my back. Her name is Sophie, she's a goofy girl who usually always makes me question my own existence but still manages to make my day very entertaining, she's definitely been one of the people that have had an impact on my life at this school.
"You almost gave me a heart attack, no big deal, thanks." I stand up and give her a tight hug.
"Oh hello there Flynn." They give each other very deafening high fives.
"So Sophie, my uninteresting days void has been filled, because Flynn so kindly suggested that I should watch him kick some ball, so I don't want to be lonely, care to join?" I desperately look at her hoping the word yes would come out of her mouth.
"Eh, why the heck not. I mean I was going to do my math homework, but I just realized I have a life, and honestly my despairing self wasn't going to go through with it." I couldn't help but laugh as Flynn shook his head with the expression of hilarity and disappointment, with a wide smile painted on his face.
The bell rings. We all have different lessons which leads us to run to our classes in a rush, we are quite far away from the school and it's pretty large so walks are basically a second form of hard core exercise, but I don't really mind.
Art is fun, we got to paint the new art room, which is pretty huge and will probably take forever but it was one of my favorite classes.
Soon enough the class was over, I rushed over to my room, washed my hands which still had a bit of paint on them, freshened up and changed clothes. Off to the field.
I notice a girl who was stretching her hand out for her life waving at me from a distance, with a very large smile plastered across her face. It's Sophie. I jog over to her and sit next to her, not many people were watching practice, I like it when the field isn't over crowded, it's large and calming."Yo Flynn!" She shouts while I notice Flynn standing across from us on the field.
"Zoe! Sophie!" He subtly smiles and waves at us as we wave at him back.
Before the practice could start Sophie was telling me about these amazing burgers in the town that we're in, that she wanted to take me to, I barely know this town since I don't live here, isn't it interesting my parents took my to a school, a boarding school which is far away from home? Anyway, her explanation of the burgers made me very hungry. While I was talking to her about the pizza I have back at home, I notice Hunter sit on the stairs across from us which is far away from the field, he's wearing a sports uniform. I think he may be doing practice as well. He finishes putting on his soccer boots and goes off to the field.
"Oh god." I try to hide my face by burying it into Sophie's shoulder.
"What's wrong?" She looks down at me in concern.
"You see that guy over there? He totally thinks I'm a weirdo." I burry my face deeper into her shoulder, it turns into more of the enjoyment of the scent rather than masking my embarrassment, her sweater smells pretty good. I then smack my face onto the palms of my hand, stating how stupid I am.
"Why would he think that? You're anything besides that. New boy seems judgmental as fu-"
The coaches whistle interrupts her before she could finish her sentence.
He runs to the field, before he could join along the team. He glances at me then gets a better look at me again, like he needed some sort of reassurance, to be fair the field is pretty big, and we were kind of far, but not too far for him to notice me.
It's been 30 minutes of practice.
"Hey I know it's not just me, cause new boy keeps staring at you, a lot." Sophie gazes at me as if I'm not telling her something.
"We talked a bit and that was it." I roll my eyes trying to avoid the topic.
"Do you wanna tell me what happened?"
"We just played a little basketball, that was it." I look away and shrug. "Besides I don't get why he's even looking at me, he was walking around with this girl." I roll my eyes again acting like I do not care.
"Sounds like you're a bit jealous Zoe." She bops her head to some random music, I think it's coming from the music room, they must have cranked up the volume really loud, it is pretty far.
I see Hunter stop to tell the coach something, then he walks away and drinks some water from his bottle. I don't mean to spy on him, he's interesting to observe I guess.
He glances at me about five times then walks away. It felt like some kind of signal, like I should be following him."Hey Soph I'll be a second." I tap on her shoulder as I stand up to go and see what he was up to.
"Ah. New boy business?" She smirks. I shake my head subtly smiling and walk away.
