Hi guys!! I just wanted to thank Jellyjamz  for helping me slow this story down because it was going too fast in the last chapter. I also wanted to thank my good friend Jackson for becoming my official editor.

John: Awaken

John bolted upright in his bed, a cold sweat covering him. He sobbed quietly into his hands, then sniffled, wiping the tears from his eyes. Wait... why was he crying? He didn't know that guy... did he?

John ignored the thought for now and grabbed his glasses from the table beside him. Once he put them on, he saw the mess his bed had become, covers were tossed carelessly on the floor, along with a heap of laundry he had yet to do, a pillow had gotten lodged between the bed and the table. John got up, still wiping away a few remaining tears.

He looked to the side, finding a cake had been set on the dresser not far from him, which read, 'Get Better!' on the top in bright red and blue. Next to that, a small note reading, 'Also, I need more Betty Crocker so I am going to the store,' signed by his father. John chose to ignore the cake and get dressed, getting out of bed and choosing his usual attire: a slimer shirt and khaki cargo shorts. He suddenly got the feeling he hadn't worn this attire in a long time, garnering a feeling of nostalgia to wash over him. John had been getting strange feelings like that all week, but when he tried to decipher the cause, he would just get a headache, as if he was trying to remember something that had been removed from his memory, or possibly even something he had never witnessed.

John walked downstairs with one of these headaches, a feeling becoming more and more familiar to him. He proceeded to sit down on the couch, suddenly noticing his grandmother's ashes weren't on top of the fireplace, like they usually were. He would have to ask his father about that when he got home from the store.

John turned on the TV and watched the news, a new island was discovered in the pacific, something he didn't deem very important, strange lights were spotted over Texas... for the millionth time, and a new planet had been discovered. For a second, he dismissed the broadcast, though a second later, he flipped back to it, realizing it did peak his interest. The scientist who had found it had taken to calling it Alternia, though the actual name was XR-107. The big surprise was the discovery of water and, most notably, plant life, the first time life of any kind had been located on another body. Of course, scientists were all in a flurry to study and probe the planet for more secrets, but interviews with common citizens generally gave the indication that people wondered if there were sentient life forms there.

John heard a car door close outside, glancing out the window to see his father's car in the driveway. He turned off the TV and went to go help his dad carry in the heaps of Betty Crocker he had purchased. After the third trip out to the car John was tired. Really, who buys that much goddamn Betty Crocker?! John quickly absconded from any more interaction with his father, escaping to the sanctuary of his room with the excuse of, "I'm still not 100% after that coma, so I'm going to go take a nap."

John actually did want to sleep, to at least rid him of the mild remains of his headache, but he was afraid that another dream like the one last night would keep him from any peace. Still, he yawned and decided to take that risk, falling asleep.

Thanks all of you for reading and I hoped you liked this chapter, thanks again to Jellyjamz and Jackson.
