I internally groaned as my glasses glinted back at me mockingly. I slowly slid off my bed and lay down on the floor. I blew a piece of hair off my face. Once getting the will, I stood up and pulled at my bed. I don't think it was even moving. After one final pull it jerked back hitting my knees. My eyes watered and I sucked in a fast breath. "Ow," climbing back on the bed I reached down the now more big gap and grabbed my glasses. I sighed and rolled on my back. "That. Was. Exhausting." There goes my energy for the morning routine.
I peeled my body off of my bed and, not even bothering to push the bed back, dragged myself to the bathroom which was right next my bedroom. I locked the door behind me and looked in the mirror. Four words; I. Was. A. Wreck. Since the haircut I had gotten three years ago, my hair had grown down to my elbow. Which I am really happy about since I learned how to french braid my hair. But my hair was now frizzy and long hair just made it crazier.
I took off my glasses and set them on the counter then brushed out all the frizziness and pulled back all my hair into a ponytail which was nice and naturally wavy. I then applied moisturizer and foundation on any problematic-spots which mostly included my eyes, I always seemed to have bags. Along with the foundation I applied mascara which made my invisible eyelashes actually visible.
I went into the kitchen. I filled up the kettle and put it on the stove. I looked at the time, my school (Davis High School) started at 7:30 and seeing as my carpool came at 7:12 I had about half an hour left to get ready. I made a PB & J sandwich and grabbed a granola bar for lunch.
Back in my bedroom, I picked out a dark green long-sleeves shirt (with a little lace near the bottom), skinny jeans, and white converse. I put in diamond studs, grabbed a jacket, and my brown canvas and leather backpack. I shoved my lunch into my backpack along with my homework and a water bottle. There was a snow storm yesterday, but today the sun seemed to be out which means the snow would probably be melted by the end of the day. Which I am super grateful about. It was only November and I wish that it wouldn't snow until after Thanksgiving.
I grabbed the kettle off the burner and poured the hot water into one of my many mugs. After so many mornings with just hot chocolate for breakfast I had by far mastered the art of when to take the kettle off the burner. I grabbed the cocoa out of the cupboard and scooped the powder into the mug. I then stirred it in and drank the hot cocoa in about a minute. I licked my lips and washed out the cup. A car horn honked. I looked at my phone and ran to the front door. Lilly had just woke up and blinked at me as I stepped outside. "Bye!" I waved and shut the door. My carpool was waiting for me in front of my driveway. I stepped inside the car and buckled up.
A few girls in my ward and I were all in my carpool. Eva, the driver today, turned back to me. "So, I didn't see you at the activity last night." I made a sad face and covered my face with my hand.
"Ugh, I'm so sorry I had to work." I looked at her with the saddest eyes I could muster.
"Oh, I'm sorry," she made a sad face,"maybe next time?" She asked hopefully.
"Sure, why not?" I replied. She nodded and started driving. Since I was the last one to be picked up, we drove straight to school.
"So how is Lilly liking Layton High School?" Asked one of the girls in the back seat. Lilly didn't want to go to Davis since Layton has a WAY better theater and drama program.
"She really likes it." The rest of the two minute drive everyone fell into their own little conversations. I just stared out the window, zoned out.. Even though I had fallen away from the church for the last year they still persisted on reminding me about activities and insisted on continuing the carpool. Which was nice and all, but it really annoyed me how hard they tried. It's like they immediately assume that I would like to come back. And yes, I was a Mormon. I still go to seminary and sacrament meeting, I just leave before Sunday school and never go to young woman activities. Which worked for me since there are still some bad memories from young woman activities and classes.
Once we got to school, Eva parked and I muttered a 'thank you' as I ran into school. It wasn't until I had gotten into the school that I realized I had forgotten my glasses on the bathroom counter. Not only that, I had been too rushed to brush my teeth. I angrily stomped my foot and groaned loudly. I got a few stares so I quickly ran to where I knew my first class would be. I used the walls as a support so that I wouldn't fall on myself. A few people looked at me so I just kept my head down and ran into my Math class.
-------------------------------
The lunch bell rang and I quickly walked to my locker. I quickly put my stuff in and ran to the lunch room. I walked around the room about five times before giving up on finding my friends in the crowded space. All the teachers had been nice about moving me to the front of the room so I could actually see the front of the board, which was slightly embarrasing since I hate attention or being the center of attention.
I round up sitting outside on the bench in the front of the school. Being nervous and felt everyone's eyes on me (though nobody's was) I finished lunch early and grabbed my stuff before heading to science. I sat down and started reading while waiting for the rest of the students arrived. Once the late bell rang, class began.
-------------------------------
I packed my stuff into my backpack and headed out where the carpool was waiting. Although there was another class left, it was a free period so everyone agreed in the carpool that if they wanted to needed to stay for the last class they needed their own ride home since we all wanted to go home. I greeted everyone and they drove me home.
I shouted thanks and ran to my house, I unlocked the house and droppped my backpack into my room. Although Merlin is great, I wanted to watch Chuck. So, I did.
