Chapter 11.
Naru sat in the kitchen chewing her food quietly. She glanced up at a quiet shuffle, Itachi walked in the kitchen opening the fridge and pulled out eggs and bread and began to cook both silently. She looked down as he sat across from her, her stomach churned as she thought about Sasuke, instantly loosing her appetite.
"So I heard you're on break." Itachi said, she blinked twice.
"Huh?"
"You're on break?" He asked taking a bite, she shook her head.
"Oh, yeah." She mumbled.
"Hm.." He gave a slight nod, she stood up throwing her half breakfast away too upset to eat anymore. "So, what happened?" He asked.
"Nothing.." She said.
"Then why are you so down?" She huffed.
"I attacked my student, I broke his shoulder and I didn't feel bad or even think twice about it." She mumbled.
"So?" He questioned.
"I didn't even think about it! I just did it! And there was no guilt."
"It was Sasuke, am I right?" She nodded her head glancing down. "Was he threatening you?" He asked.
"Well.... yeah." She said. "How did you know?"
"I kept an eye on Sasuke once I left, I kept an eye on my little brother." He said simply.
"He was demanding me to let him come to you, I never wanted anything to do with them after I left, but Ibiki said it would make me stronger, the only thing it's done is make me stress out."
"Well, think of it this way, it's preparing you for when you are put in charge of less than desirable teammates." He said, Naru gave a small nod. "Why do you hate them? They are your first teammates after all."
"You can hardly call them teammates, they beat me down, treated me like trash, lied and – what am I doing? You don't care.." She said.
"I'm listening aren't I?" He questioned, she paused.
"You really want to listen to me talk about my past?" She asked.
"It's better than bottling it and wallowing in silence correct?" He asked, she blinked before nodding her head.
"Yeah.." She said with a smile. "I guess it really started when we got our C-rank mission.." She started.

Naru smiled gently as she laid in her bed that night thinking over her whole day. She and Itachi spent it talking, mostly she talked about her past and Itachi gave small comments that either made her laugh or gave her some insight she had truly missed. It made her stomach fill with butterflies that she was able to find a friend in the most unlikely person. It was a perfect day in her opinion, Itachi was nothing like she had first thought.
She sat up with a frown as goosebumps covered her skin from the cool temperature in the house. She snuck out to the living room to see Itachi laying on the couch covered only in the sheet, she frowned before slipping back in her room grabbing her blanket and crept back out to the living room. She gently covered Itachi up and smiled before slipping back into her room. Itachi opened his eye watching her walk back and smiled gently shifting a little on the couch pulling her blanket up more.
