Chapter 16.

Itachi sighed as he looked over at Naru. Her skin was nearly white and every so often she'd let out a whimpering cry of agony. In the recent days she had her arms and legs strapped down to the bed due to her thrashings.

"What did he do?" Tsunade asked.

"What happened?" They turned to see a worn down Jiraiya standing in the open door, Ibiki ushered the man in and shut the door.

"Madara and Sasuke teamed up, Sasuke threw her in a powerful genjutsu." Itachi said. "She's living her worst moments. It's draining her life away. Her heart and mind can't handle much more."

"What could she be – oh no.." Tsunade said, Ibiki gripped his arms tight knowing exactly what Naru was being forced to relive.

"Why hasn't it been broken yet?" Jiraiya asked with annoyance.

"I didn't know what kind it was yet, but I got the solution." Itachi said. "I'm going to fix it."

"What did he do?"

"He put her in a genjutsu causing her to see her worst time, over and over. The stress is destroying her body. Had I of used my sharingan it would of wiped her mind totally. I have to travel in her mind, locate her and get her to break the genjutsu." He said.

"Do we need Inoichi in?" Ibiki asked.

"No, I'm going to cast a genjutsu on her like I did Sasuke, I meditate and travel into her mind through the genjutsu."

"Isn't there a chance you could get caught in the genjutsu?" Tsunade questioned.

"I'm a genjutsu master, I've learned every aspect of the sharingan at a young age. I know how prevent them." He said.

"Alright, tell us what to do." She said.

"Hold her eyes open while I cast the jutsu, while I'm in there keep her chakra calm. I don't know for sure but Kyuubi's chakra could react when I try to break it." He said.

"I'll handle that." Jiraiya said.

Tsunade gently opened Naru's eyes and nearly cried seeing the dullness in them, Itachi took in a deep breath and activated his sharingan and looked into Naru's eyes before pulling back and sitting in the chair by the bed and look in a deep breath closing his eyes and focusing.

Itachi opened his eyes looking around the pure black room, he seemingly floated before his feet touching solid ground. He looked around a faint noise of water running sounded making him walk towards it. The darkness faded before he came to a hallway made of concrete with a foot of water on the ground. He walked slowly and looked down the halls seeing images appear of Naru's past. He smirked watching a young Naru run around laughing and giggling. He walked down more seeing more images watching Naru grow up. He stepped and jolted as a crackle sounded, he looked down to see the ground charred and broken up, it spread from the floor to the walls leaving nearly nothing but blackness around. He saw red chakra bubbling in a hallway, he walked up slowly feeling the menacing aura of Kyuubi. He peered in before jumping backwards as Kyuubi's claw slammed in the ground near him.
