It was the morning. My first day of being a slave. Last night Karma slept so well, but I was crowded by the other slaves who were asleep, with their sad faces.

All the slaves were in the field, some were inside cleaning. The ones outside made sure the garden was healthy and kept the crops growing, not sure why he just bought food but I guess it's easier. Easier for him.

"Nagisa." Karma began. "Yeah?" His blank face suddenly turned into a bright, fake smile. "How does it feel, to be one of us?" I gave back a small smile, it wasn't even close to being real.

Two hours later, my elbows were covered in dirt, and my skin felt dry from the dust. My hair was full of it and dirt. My face was dirty and my cheeks were red from heat. My ankles burned from the chains on the heat. It hurt like hell!

"You look pretty beaten there." Chuckled another slave. "You look like you just rolled in dirt this whole time!" I looked up at him with a blank expression. Another slave with brown hair and a pale face shook him a bit. "Terasaka! Stop that!" He whispered. But he ignored him.  "Why don't you go back to your wealth and money if you don't like it here!" "Terasaka! His friend called out in disappointment. "Don't tease him! It won't do anything but cause trouble!" Terasaka rolled his eyes. "Are you even sure that's a guy? Anyways he had it more easy than us! He is just a spoiled brat! I bet he has never had anything to worry about cause nobody loves him." I began to fill with fury. I clench my fist, he clearly doesn't understand the pain I went through my entire life. "What a rich piece of shit!" He scoffed. Karma froze with wide eyes. I lost my temper, again...

I jumped towards him and tackled him. I strangled him and punched him. Then I started to choke him he begged for breath and struggled to break free from my grip. Everyone came running. Karma tried to get me off, but then something shoved me down. I looked up and found Asano, glaring down at me, half-impressed.

Terasaka caught his breath as they helped him sit up. He gave a mean look at me. I froze. Then I felt a tug on my arm. I was bring dragged into Asano's home. His hand was cold as he pulled on me. I almost tripped on my chains concurring how fast he was walking. We entered the house, my ankles relaxed from the cool air instead on heat. But they still hurt.

He lead me through the main hall. I looked around, finding chandeliers, candles, large staircases, and soft furniture with a fireplace. We entered the living room. My heart races when I spotted a bunch of whips hung on the wall, along with chains and rags. Then I found a large gun hung over them. I was shaking and I couldn't move.

He took a pair of chains, similar to the ones on my ankles, but smaller. Then he went towards me. "Hands out." I stretched out my arms, he then locked them on my wrists, I couldn't put them back to the sides, I couldn't yank them apart.

Suddenly I collapsed to the ground. I felt something hit me, I cried in pain. I looked up and he whipped me again as punishment. "I'm doing this because I want to hear your cry, I want you to be in so much pain. I want you in so much misery to the point were you want to die!" He said insanely. His eyes were widened with small pupils. I felt blood run down my arm, and my face. The blood went through the rags as he hit my back. I could t controls to amount of tears falling from my face, I couldn't breathe.

"Now, when you get back out there, you won't cry, you will not even bleed, if you tell them I'll do this to you again or everyone else but you. Understand?" He finally let down the whip. I struggled to stand up. I was completely bloody and had scars all over me. My tears softened. They slowly stopped.

He lead me back out into the heat, and shoved me away from his doorstep. I went back to Karma. His eyes widened from worry. "Are you okay?" I sighed. Choking back tears from the stinging and pain. "I-I'm okay..." I stuttered. I started shaking from the amount of pain I was going through.
Everybody was staring at me in amazement, I observed everyone, they all looked like they were going through hell. I wanted to scream and cry.

After an hour, we all began to work normally, as if nothing happened. But my wrists started to tingle and feel numb. I felt my heartbeat and could almost hear it. I couldn't breath. One of my scars were under the cuffs of the chains on my wrist. It burned badly as it tangled and numbed up. I stopped working and leaned on my wrists. "Nagisa?" Karma asked concerned. Then I felt scars burning on my ankles, tons of them. I started to cry. "Nagisa! What's wrong?" Karma asked as he leaned over to help. I couldn't help but scream at the top of my lungs, I didn't even care to think about Asano. Everyone watched my as I struggled to pull the chains off. I attempted trying to kick on the chains and get them off my wrist. I screamed and cried. Nobody knew what to do. I slammed the cuffs on the dirt repeatedly, trying to break free. I cried as the burning metal rubbed on the open wounds.

I finally gave up, I silently cried as the wounds burned and numbed up. I lowered my head. I couldn't even breath from how much I was crying. Finally, a girl came up to Karma and I. She had purple hair in a single loose braid. Her glasses were shining in the sunlight. She wore a white fabric medical mask with a cat mouth on it. She looked around, then pulled out a tiny bottle from the pocket in her rag dress. She tore off some of the end of her dress.

She took my arms, then dropped the liquid on each arm. It ran down my arms and landed under the cuffs. She did the same to my legs. After a few seconds, it began to sting. I held my breath, waiting for the pain to stop.

"Turn around." She said. I did as told. She cleaned the blood off my back from the torn rags. Then put the liquid on my back. I turned back around as she put the bottle in her pocket.
"T-Thanks..."

I looked up at her blank expression. "Who are you?" I asked "Okuda." She replied. She didn't hesitate to answer. "I'm Nagisa-"

"I know. Karma kept going on about you last night. I heard the things you went through, I know you aren't a bad person, so I'll help. But don't think we're friends, this is just a one-time-thing." I relaxed a bit. "Why do you wear that mask?"

"I can't breathe in dirt, dust, or anything like that. Even when it rains I have to wear it. Asano did it to me. He poisoned me to not be able to breath without it."

"Do you can never take it off?" I asked. She hesitantly nodded. "I'm sorry..."
"Don't apologize, it's his fault. I helped you cause your poisoned too, I know what it's like to live like that." I nodded, understanding. "Why does it have a smile? And where did you get the mask?"

"I made it out of cotton. I used to make clothes for Asano until he got bored of me. It has a smile so I don't have to fake one. I haven't smiled ever since Asano made me a slave. I used to live in a village near the Kaede mansion. A girl named Kayano used to be my friend. When I was first taken, she would visit me and help. She knew the condition I was in, but she suddenly stopped. She betrayed me!" I saw small tears in her eyes. She was just like me. But betrayed and alone. All I had was Karma I couldn't imagine not having him around beside me.
