Okuda's eyes looked like death, her expression showed the despair in her. She fought back tears, she didn't want to express her emotions nor feelings. I wonder why Kayano stopped caring for her. Was it because of me?
I felt a tap on my shoulder, it was Karma. I looked at him then at Okuda, noticing her wiping her tears away.
I then looked behind me, there was a dark figure sneaking towards us. They looked extremely cautious of what they were doing. My eyes widened as I figured out who they were. Kayano. I was tempted to run to her, but I decided it was best not to.All I could do was smile. Karma wasn't so happy, his expression never changed when he noticed her.
Kayano finally reached us, lowering her hood so we could see her face. "Kayano!" I quietly exclaimed with excitement. Karma rolled his eyes. I turned to Okuda. She was turned around. Avoiding eye contact. I looked at Kayano, who was apparently talking to me. "I missed you guys so much! I can't believe you are finally showing your emotions! You've really changed Nagisa!" I slightly nodded. Then cocked my head towards Okuda. "What? Who is she?"
Then she finally realized her. She had such a bright smile.
"Minami!" She yelled running towards her. Okuda looked upset. She finally turned to face Kanayo. She seemed upset, but she was pissed. "Minami! I'm so happy to see you! I'm sorry I wasn't able to reach your for all these years! I-"
"Why...." She muttered. "Why...."
Kayano leaned towards her and put her head below hers, to see her expression. Then Kayano sat up straight. "Did I do somethi-"
"You did everything!" Okuda cut her off. She stood up and ripped off the cotton mask. Her glasses fell off her face, onto the dirt. "How was a supposed to care for myself without you?! I thought you cared about me! My family always served yours and you repay me by your father turning me in, you abandoning me, and ruining my life! I was so young! What's wrong with people? What's wrong with your family? What's wrong with you! You let this all happen! I hate you!"
She had tears pouring down her face. Finally I noticed a scar on her left eye and her lip.
I looked over at Kayano. She had small tears in her eyes as she started to force a smile. She stood up and tried to comfort Okuda. She brushed her hand through her hair, and rested her hand on Okuda's cheek. Okuda had finally calmed down a bit.
"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you. I wish I could help, but anything I could do would match up to the pain you are feeling. My father doesn't care for anyone, just money. He even almost turned me in. He threatens me a lot whenever I misbehave. He will always make up an excuse to do it. I wasn't able to see you because of my selfishness. I couldn't bare to see you in pain again. So I stopped. And humanity becomes less human-like every day." She explained, struggling to keep her smile, but she didn't fight back her tears.
Okuda clenched her fists. And tears rolled down her face again. Then she burst out sobbing, she then wrapped her arms around Kayano. "I'm sorry!" She sobbed repeatedly. I smiled to see them get along, but Karma didn't care. Suddenly my heart stopped. I remembered she couldn't breath without it. She didn't notice she wasn't breathing, she didn't care.
Finally they calmed down, but Okuda started coughing and wheezing. She begged for breath. I raced for the mask and face it to her. She slipped it on and thanked me.
(12:38 PM)
My eyes slowly opened. I noticed it was still night time. Kayano and Okuda slept together. I heard a faint noise from outside. I got up, trying not to wake the others up. I looked out the doorway, my eyes widened at the sight. It was Karma, getting whipped by Asano.
He lay helpless on the ground in pain. My eyes watered from the sight. He struggled to get up. I silently cried. I couldn't do anything to help him.
