Dean awoke in a pile of papers and textbooks on his bed. He groaned and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. He looked at the clock on his nightstand. 7:02am.

"Shit!" Dean bolted straight up out of bed and frantically gathered his homework together and stuffed it into his bag, not worried about how the papers crumpled and got stuck under the heavy books.

The bus driver was about to drive away when Dean ran out of his house and jumped on just in time. He sat in the same seat as yesterday, catching his breath and plugging in his headphones into his CD player.

"Hey." Castiel was there again, smiling as he greeted Dean, this time in a leather jacket and lightly worn jeans.

Dean turned to him, "Hey. Castiel, right?"

His smile grew wider, pleased to know Dean remembered his name and saw his note. "Yeah that's me. Cas for short." He shrugged. "So why were you late to the bus? The driver was getting impatient."

"Oh, uh, I woke up a little late and was rushing to get out the door."

"Up all night with homework or something else?" Castiel smiled mischievously.

"I fell asleep surrounded by papers, textbooks, and empty coffee mugs." Dean raised his eyebrows.

Castiel laughed and ran a hand through his messy black hair. "Sounds fun." he said sarcastically.

"Yeah," Dean said, laughing. "Best freaking night of my life."

"Hey, if you ever need a break or want to have some real fun, I live just right across the street. The house with the maple tree in the front yard."

"Oh, thanks but I don't know if I really should. I'm supposed to be focusing on schoolwork and, no offense, but if my parents knew I was hanging out with someone like you, I'd be dead."

Castiel nodded slowly, "I get it. But I bet your dad still comes home every night. And your mom probably doesn't drink all of the family's money away. And if you have any siblings, I'm willing to bet that they are nice as hell just like you are." He winked.

Dean smiled, "Yeah, actually I love my family." He frowned. "Is your family-"

"I don't want to talk about my family. They're a joke." Cas responded harshly.

Dean paused. "I'm sorry..."

Cas laughed a bit sadly. "It's fine, really." He looked down at the floor.

After a short pause Cas added, "You never called me last night." Another mischievous smile crept across his face as he looked at Dean from the corner of his eyes.

"I didn't know I was supposed to." Dean answered awkwardly.

Castiel shrugged.

They were silent the rest of the ride.

When they got to school, Cas walked in with Dean but still in silence. They were half way down the hall when he asked, "So where's your first class?"

"Um," Dean was surprised that Cas would want to walk with him anywhere. He seemed like the kind of guy to be skipping all of his classes and hanging out behind the school smoking pot. "It's Mr. Edlund." Dean replied. "English Class."

"Cool." Cas said as he walked with Dean through the hallways. Girls and guys that stood by their lockers often glanced or even stared at them. Dean tried to ignore it.

When they got to Dean's class, Castiel grabbed him by the wrist and carefully pulled him to the side against the wall. The sudden physical contact took Dean by surprise. "I'll meet you here after class." he said softly.
