The Day I Saw You Smile

Present

Mahiru woke up and saw Kuro lying on the floor. "Didnt I bought you a bed?", Mahiru sighed as he carried Kuro back into the bed.

They fixed themselves and went to visit Hyde. Johannes making progress in restoring Hyde's collateral for the contract. "Hyde's been unconcious for the past days", Lily informed. "I guess he's having good dreams with Ophelia again", Licht clicked his tongue. "Ophelia?", Mahiru asked. "His long previous Eve whom he fallen in love with", Licht narrated. "A vampire can fall in love with humans?", Mahiru asked while looking at Kuro. "That will never happen. Humans are weak creatures", Kuro said.

Flashback...

Ash and Shina are still looking for Akio. They ended up resting at a park. "Want some ice cream?", Shina asked. "Yeah. I'm dead hungry",  Ash said in a bored tone. Shina ran towards the ice cream stall and even bought some snacks. She went back and gave Ash ice cream.

"It's called ice cream, Ash", Shina explained. "I never ate one before. My previous Eve hates cold things", Ash explained. He licked it and was stunned. "Why? Does it taste bad?", Shina asked. "It's like your blood. It's cold and sweet", Ash smiled slightly. Shina had her heart skip a beat. She cleared her throat and finished her ice cream. "It's my first time to eat ice cream with someone in a park. Be happy you're the first one", Shina pointed at Ash. "I'm a vampire, though", Ash reminded. "That's okay", Shina sighed and grabbed Ash's hand. "Let's go watch the fish", Shina invited. "I dont want. It's hot", Ash complained. Shina opened her bag and opened an umbrella. "Come on", Shina tighten her grip.

Shina was having fun looking at the fish. "What's fun in looking at those swimming creatures?", Ash asked. "They're called stress relieving", Shina answered. "Stress?", Ash asked. "Good thing you dont feel those. Sadness. Loneliness. Depression. Anger. Pain. It's a mixture", Shina said. "Humans are complicated", Ash sighed. "We're just simple creatures. We live to love and to be loved", Shina explained. "And you are not one. You dont have someone who loves you", Ash said in his most insensitive tongue. Shina stopped talking and left Ash.

Apartment.

Ash rushed at the apartment to change into a cat.

Shina entered recalling what Ash told her. She opened the door and saw Ash waiting for her. "Ash. You.. waited for me?", Shina hugged him tight. "Ash. Do you love me?", Shina asked holding her up. The cat butted his head on Shina's. "Uhm. I love you too, Ash", Shina smiled while holding back her tears.

Ash's POV

Was she sadden about what I told her? Love? Vampires like me... doesnt use words like love.

"If that lazy freeloader wouldnt apologize, I wont feed him with the things he wanted", my idiot Eve muttered. I should apologize.

That Night.

Someone knocked on Shina's door. She was startled to see certain people. His father's clients. "Still looking pretty?", the boss held her wrist. One of the men covered her mouth and pushed her inside the apartment. They locked the door. Three of them stood in front of the door as look outs. The other three pushed Shina inside her room. The rest searched for proof of here Akio is. "So you are living in a cozy place like this", the boss said. "Tie her on the bed", he ordered. "What are you doing?!", Shina shouted. "Help!!!", Shina shouted and one of the boss' guards put a hanky on her mouth. "We have to force Akio out of his comfort zone. Let's start paying his debts with your body", the boss licked his lips. "Prepare the camera", The boss ordered.

Ash just came from changing into human. He went out to buy Shina's favorite hot chocolate  drink. He went upstairs and knocked on Shina's door. "Who's that?", the boss said while starting to unbutton Shina's blouse. "Go check it", The boss pointed the man. After a while, the boss was the only ones left. Ash entered Shina's room and saw she's tied. He gave a good punch at the boss' face. Shina's neighbor called the cops and the rest were captured.

Ash untied Shina and covered her with blanket. Shina just sat at the bed while Ash stood beside her. "Sorry, you have to waste your energy with those guys", Shina apologized. "Shall I pay with my blood?", Shina asked. "You're right Ash, maybe I'm not a human at all. No one respects me. No one... would even console me", Shina sighed.  Ash sat beside Shina and had her head lean on his chest. "Humans are simpleton. They say acts like this could make someone happy", Ash said in his bored tone. "Maybe you can still be a human. You said if you love and you are loved you're a human. Then maybe... animals and cats are included with your requirements", Ash held on her shoulders.

"Ash, you...", Shina tried to look at him but Ash already disappeared in her sight. She went outside her room and saw a hot choco on her table.

Akio's Headquarter

A crow turned to human as he approached Akio. "Your daughter had been in contact with a Servamp named Sloth. He is a very strong Servamp and he's the oldest", the crow reported. "You mean my daughter's blood is already tasted?!", Akio stood up and kicked the crow. "This cannot be!", Akio clenched his fist. "Is there anything wrong?", Touru, Shina's mother asked. Akio smiled sarcastically. "Of course, I know what to do", Akio laughed. "Did he hit his head so hard?", Lawless asked as he entered. "Boss... I need your help. Just this time", Akio begged.

Present...
Hyde opened his eyes and saw Kuro watching him sleep. Hyde cried and sat straight. "Was that a nightmare?", Kuro asked. "It was. Brother. It was a scary dream and the one that scary was me", Hyde bit his lips. "Brother... I have something...", Hyde was about to say something when Mahiru entered the room. "Let's go home. Kuro", Mahiru said with a smile on his face. "Brother. Are you happy now?", Hyde asked. "I am ", Kuro gave a slight smile.
