The girl found herself looking for Colin everywhere she went. She started to attend her classes in Hogwarts and she finally found him- they have Herbology together. His mile a minute jabber can be heard as far as Durmstrang.

"...and have I told you about the time when I tried adding Pepsi cola on a Bloomsod and it turned orange? It was bizarre! It doesn't make sense! And when I added Coca cola it started growing fur! One time I even added toothpaste in it and it spat at me!"

A group has actually gathered around him, adding opinions and smiling at his observations. He might be annoying to her but might be something of a distracting comfort to most of the students who have become somewhat of a recluse. The war has taken pieces off of everyone. Not everyone has got their smile back. Much more their voice. But Colin has enough chatter to fill the entire greenhouse.

Besides, he doesn't seem like he realized that she was there. He didn't notice.

Boys are all like that. Show them a shiny new toy and they'll reach for it, put it in a high shelf out of reach and they won't even bother looking for it. Scum.

She poked around her pot. Professor Sprout told them that they just need to ready the soil for mandrake planting after the mandrakes finished breeding. It was easy enough.

The girl was perspiring but she did miss the sun. It was warm against her skin and it smells good, like something fresh and pure. It was one of the pleasures she didn't get to experience while she was on the run, they always moved at night. Mostly because her company is weak to daylight.

But now, for all the heartbreak that it brought, she can at least have the sun. She found herself smiling slightly despite herself.

"Do you need a hair tie?"

She looked at the girl who talked to her. It was a Hufflepuff girl judging from her yellow and black necktie, she was smiling as she held out a cream colored elastic.

"Oh, I'm alright. Don't mind me," the girl turned her gaze again on the pot of earth in front of her. Her fair hair fell on all sides of her face.

"I just thought that you might not want it to get in your hair-- it's alright, you know. I can braid it for you, if you like," the Hufflepuff girl suggested with a smile.

"No, seriously, please-" but the Hufflepuff girl has already taken her hair and started braiding it down her back. The girl wanted to scream out in annoyance but she could see better now that her hair is out of place. Hufflepuffs and their kindness or whatever- it won't make them house points though.

"I'm Hannah Abbott. Are you the Durmstrang transfer student?" Hannah started working on the pot next to hers.

"Yes," the girl said, not wanting to add another word into the conversation hoping that Hannah would just give up on her.

"That's quite funny, isn't it? Actually unheard off in wizarding schools but probably for muggles... They're quite an open minded bunch," Hannah smiled at the girl. "Like Colin Creevey over there."

"You fancy him?" The girl sneaked a look at Colin's broad back as he started putting a pot of soil in the higher shelves, some Gryffindor girl with straight red hair is helping him.

Hannah merely giggled. "Everybody likes Colin...well, at least now. Everybody wants to have sunshine after a long night, you know. He's nice. He talks when no one wants to."

The girl just nodded. It's true Colin does fill up the silence so it was never awkward.

"Oh and, Professor Sprout, I brought one of the Mandrake seedlings back home and planted it in our garden and our nosy neighbor thought that it was a particularly bad turnip and he was about to pull it up!"

Their professor, a stout woman with stringy gray hair gasped, she opened her mouth about to go on a round of reprimanding but Colin spoke again. "But me and Dennis managed to stop him, wrestled him right off the ground. Sometimes magic just won't do, you know. Some things have to be managed the good ol' muggle way."

The girl expected someone to be angered by this but Professor Sprout just sighed, "Oh, Colin."

Colin went on about being of the right age to do magic and having a struggle whether to do magic or not all the time. The girl found herself listening to his voice, it was enthusiastic and lively and it could fill up a room. Strong enough to chase away the dust and the cobwebs but tender enough not to break anything.

And he smelled of talc... sunshine... clementine... and something almost close to musk.

It was like having a steaming pot of the most delicious stew in the world in front of her with just the lid opened slightly, the aromas free to capture and ensnare her. Draw her nearer. Tempt her. Make her mouth water.

"Are you done with that?" Colin said.

The girl was so intent on listening to Colin's voice that she didn't realize that he has come on over to her.

"Vi," she turned when a hand touched her shoulder, "Are you done with that?"

He was smiling at her, the sun hit his brown eyes and it looked like a shade close to bronze. "Yes, I'm done."

Colin carried the pot in his arms and whistled while putting it on the shelves. She heard a subtle pop. Colin just laughed, "It's my knees. They keep popping these days. Mum said that it just means I'm going to get taller- I don't think I want that. Anymore of this lengthening business and I'll hit our doorpost! But I don't mind getting as big as Hagrid though- he's a great bloke."

The girl looked for any telltale signs on his wrist but there was none. Searched her classmates' faces for any pointing or jeering but found none as well.

Colin Creevey with his light brown hair, bright brown eyes, knees that keep popping and jabber a mile a minute mouth could be... nice.

But the girl could be wrong. She's always wrong and being in a different school will not change that.

No matter who's hoping.

Colin smiled at her, expecting a reply.

And the girl wanted to return his smile but didn't.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I really wish that I could update more and that I would have more hours of sleep. But then again, I wish that Obama's term won't end to be replaced by that other guy. Anyways, we can't always get what we want. *sigh*

Song up top is 'New Soul' by Yael Naim because it's so soft and pretty and I love listening to it when I'm about to do something for the first time. :) Good vibes all around.
