Once again, Chris didn't come home until this morning. Today was the one day I needed him to actually be here to help me get Carter ready for daycare. I was already running late for work and having to deal with a cranky one year old didn't help.

"C'mon Carter." I sighed. "Just one more ponytail baby."

"No mommy!" She wailed, kicking her feet. "It hurts!"

"It's just one more baby, just be still." I sighed struggling to brush the rest of her hair into the other pig tail.

She cried and cried until I was completely finished. I stood her up and clipped two bows into her hair. I wiped her face and put on a cartoon for her to watch while I went to go get dressed myself.

It was already 8:15 and I had to be to work by 8:30. I hurriedly picked a quick outfit out for work and threw it on. While doing my hair, I heard Chris groan and mumble some things under his breath while coming back into the room.

"You didn't cook no breakfast Zo?" He grumbled. "I'm hungry as fuck."

"I don't have time Chris." I sighed. "I'm already late as it is."

"You should've got up earlier." He huffed. "I know you fixed something for Carter."

"She had cereal." I rolled my eyes while slipping my shoes on. "You are more than capable of going into that kitchen and fixing yourself something to eat."

"You're supposed to cook." He said with an attitude while turning the TV on. "That's the least you can do."

"Bye Chris." I placed on my jewelry and grabbed my phone off the nightstand. "I'm not about to stand here and listen to you say ignorant shit. I need you to pick Carter up from daycare, I have to work late."

"Whatever." He waved me off, paying attention to his phone.

I just hoped he was actually listening to me because the daycare didn't play about being late. His attitude and the fact I was gonna be late for the second time this week had me mad as hell.

His attitude was starting to get more and more ridiculous everyday. Like who in their right mind would be upset over breakfast. I don't have to cook for him every morning. Especially on mornings when I'm late.

The only good part about today, was that I wouldn't have to deal with his shitty attitude all day.

It was going on 6:45 and I was working hard to finish the load of paperwork my boss had slammed down on my desk for the day. Since I was late, I wanted to make it up to my boss by finishing everything.

I was working on the last file when my phone vibrating in my purse caught my attention. I sat the pen down and hurried to answer it seeing that it was Carter's daycare.

"Hello?" I placed the phone to my ear, going back to my work.

"Hi Ms. Pullins." I recognized the sweet voice as Carter's teacher, Ashley.
