Kerry got home check for voice mail she got so many missed calls with just one voice mail that from Kirkland telling her he could no longer come over Kerry was glad it wasn't like she has invited him over anyway she sat a while with kirky when he starts yarning  she clean him up brush his teeth puts him in bed with his toys read him a story wait for him to fall asleep before going back down stairs tonight she watch a move sitting on the couch with her legs crossed eating from a big bag of potato chips and can soda, her mind flash to this morning and it make her think about what it would it be like having sex with Kirkland when he was in to it,thinking that he was so in to it when they did it he just didn't remember she wonder why now after all these years they've been friends she hope he was alright that he wasn't sick he wasn't telling much though they haven't really chat that much about anything he was mostly taken up by kirky  he didn't mention him getting any children with his wife she can't believe she wasn't here with him what happen why she let him come Alone her mind going wild with thoughts that she could no longer bin after lifting it open with her foot her chips she finish her soda got up went to the kitchen dropping the empty can in the trash can and put the chips in the microwave wash her hands turn out the light on her way out she wearily climb the stairs let kirky use the bathroom put him back to bed then climb in next to him.
They put the final cote of paint on the inside of the building Kirkland didn't think it would be completed with out a little red getting the doors and window in red he like the way it looks so far Jake told him to he decorator will be coming tomorrow .
He was standing shoulder to shoulder with Jake when his phone ring when he got it out his pocket it had stop ring
"Who your wife or baby mother?" Jake tease with a smile
"It was Kerry" Kirkland said
Jake grin got wider but he didn't speak
"You're getting really annoying with this shit" Kirkland told him.
"What shit?"
"Shut up man" Kirkland said bouncing Jake
But that didn't stop him "you not going to call back?"
He shook his head they didn't talk for a while just stand leaning on Kirkland's car looking at the building
Kerry and I took the boy to the beach yesterday "Kirkland break the silence.
" the boy he doesn't have a name?" Jake ask
"Kk"
Jake giggle kay  Kay or just two k's?"
"I don't know man' but as I was saying while we were at the beach we ran in to lisa"
"Lisa?" Jake strach his head for he couldn't quite remember her
"Lisa Willis the next bridesmaid at Marsha's and I wedding" Kirkland told him Jake remember Kerry and lora lynch Kirkland mother neice  being the bridesmaid it then came to him that it was three of them
"The tramp that is always hanging with marsha ?" Kirkland nod "man! You know she told Marsha she saw you right?" Kirkland nod
"Expect her here soon" Jake said for he was sure she was going to come.
"Lisa was surprise Kerry has a child for when she first saw me with the boy she started talking with him saying that he looks like me I could see in her eyes that she was surprise that the boy belong to Kerry,
The look Jake gave him he was glad he said nothing come Tuesday Jake was still sticking to the kerry subject but Kirkland pretend to be all up in to what the décor was doing so he didn't have to do much talking 
On his way home he stop to get a film clean he sat in his car going through them they were mostly pictures of places he drove by that has been developed the photo studio he's working on one of Jake his wife and two children one with his mom another with ms parker few with Kerry on the beach that he took for keep sake, Mrs cassidy on three he took one and decide to send the others to Kerry there was one with her son but he wasn't sending that Kerry didn't knew he took it anyway he got to the post office bought an envelope and a stamp put the two pictures of Kerry's mom one of her wrote her address and dropped it in the mail box where she live the mail went straight to her gate by mail man they just left it in the mail box on the gate so he knew she will got it by tomorrow he got home and put the rest of picture's with kerry in his gloves compartment taking the others inside with him he didn't knowtist that one had fallen from his hand for he came through the door yell out to his mother didn't even hear if she had answer for he went to his room
Hella came out her room for she was sure she heard her son said he was home but she didn't see him but the picture on the floor caught her eyes wondering how in gods name a piece of her picture collection of her son growing up got out of the box and ended up on the floor she was ready to give Kirkland a warning when he came out the room
"I though I heard you" she said
"Hey mom " he said kissing her cheek.
She held the picture to his face "how did this ended up on the floor? " she ask.
"Oh that's a picture of Kerry's little boy must have fallen when I came in.
Hella turn it to face her looking it over
"You don't mind if I keep it do you?" She ask
"No not atal
" is there more?"
I just took that one but its OK I will take another"
"Hella made dinner its in the micro oven please help yourself, I will be in my room" she left him there hurry to her room closing the door behind her,she took her picture collection box off the wall robe that only have picture's of Kirkland from he was a baby till now for he always send pictures of himself in the mail as she has ask him to he didn't know she did that it was just her knowing she look through the picture to find Kirkland four years old photo for this little boy didnt look older than that Kirkland was in a plain red t-shirt also playing with a red toy the only difference was that  the toys were different Hella cried next day she turn up at the gift shop meeting Kerry's child for the first time he came so willingly to her she couldn't help herself but to hug him thinking to herself that she wasn't sure what happen where or when but this little boy was her grandson and no one could do or say anything to make her believe otherwise though she wasn't there for gifts she bought some sweet smelling fancy looking soaps and two small hand towel  paying for them out of five thousand dollar telling kirky that the change was for him,smiling when she heard him said "thank you" she said good bye to Kerry then left ,she didn't say anything to Kirkland about her visit to the gift shop she remember when he first started that gift shop he started out selling just postcards it was Kerry who introduce him to scented candles and fancy handkerchief he then grow in to something more but what he really wanted was to capture the world on film by doing his own photographics he was good with his camera but he got better after two years at school of the arts he left Kerry in the house he had built Kirkland was twenty when he became a home owner for he won some money entering a art fair doing a tremendous job ,Hella didn't hold a grudge when he left Kerry with both his home and his business and was glad now she didn't for her grandson has a home to live and he was being care for.
Hella had told Kirkland the heartless story of his father but she sat with him to tell him again about the hurt and the pain she went through but the lord has answer her prayer he didn't know why she was going over it again but he sat and listen."maybe its why I don't get children for I maybe would have done the same thing my father did .Hella shook her head "you wouldn't you may be for your father but you're not for your father,don't talk nonsense you're going to be a better father than your dad for you're a good man with good heart" she kiss his cheek when she got up.they held prayer meeting on wednesday's each week at st johns baptised church where she attend and invited him the pastor met him at the door shook his hand telling him "the lord is going to make you a happy man" he said with a smile his mother smile rubbing his back as well they walk to his car they were almost home after a quiet journey he turn to her "my mom what have you told pastor about me?" Kirkland ask.
"But stop all I did was to ask pastor to pray for you, you don't have any problem with someone praying for you do you?"
"Mom no"
"Oh for god has been too good to me he help me to bring you up to make you the man you're today.
"And I thank god mom I do"
Hella smile Kirkland held her hand "I do love you mom"
" I know son"she said and they were back to silence again they got home part ways in the living room he head to the kitchen while Hella retired to her bed room he have a glass of grape juice before he call Kerry who felt it was him calling and delay answering until it ring three times
"Hello " she said
"Ready for me ?" Kirkland ask
But Kerry suck her teeth.
He laugh "so wnothing p?"
"Not much on this side "
"Got your pictures?" Kirkland ask"I've mailed them to you",Kerry did got a strange mail but she didn't open it when he mention it she got up and went for the mail on a lamp stand in a corner of her living room she open it same time the first she saw was herself dress in bikini swim wear the way she sat with her legs open and the camera got a full view,then there was her mom her face was so bright the first in four years "they're looking great "
"Thanks" he tells her "and the boy is he alright?"
"Yeah he's here playing with his toys"
"You mean he's still awake can I talk to him?"
It took her a while to give kirky the phone "honey say hello " Kerry told him his little hand curled around the receiver he put it to his ears "daddy " he said and Kerry falled to her knees beside him she try to say something but the tightness in the back of her throat didn't allow her to speak she wish she could hear what Kirkland was saying to him he answer yes and no shaking his head at some point in time.
" are you coming here daddy?"
Kerry couldn't hear what he was saying but kirky hand her the phone she didn't know what to say but Kirkland was already telling her goodnight he hang up before she could respond,He
Sat at the kitchen table with his own thoughts the boy has called him Dad but he believe it was because he didn't know who he was talking to but he wonder what if it was so what if he was his father how would it be possible anyway if he weren't able to get any ;
" I was talking to Kerry the other night "Kirkland told Jake when they met on Thursday then I said hello to her son ,he called me daddy"
Jake eyes widen
"He didn't seems to known who it was"
Jake look at him not sure what to tell him but he ask "you're starting to have that feeling that he could be your son then you fell confused for you can't remember having sex with her and because your wife ,that bitch get you believing that shit that you can't get her pregnant you going crazy wondering what to believe"
"How did you know?" Kirkland ask
Jake nod and sigh "you know she loves you right,?" He died don't wait to get an answer maybe you don't but I'm telling you she loves you and will do anything for you"Jake said Kirkland want to believe that .
Let's say you went there drunk that night and you two had sex ,you forgot it happened so she didn't bother to tell you when you left she found she was pregnant and because you married and left she just let it slide"
"I see you still enjoyed watching those fairytales movies " Kirkland said and they both laugh that Bob called to Jake "you both alright boss?"
"Uh_huh we're good " Jake said rubbing Kirkland's head "we cool man!
"Like always" Kirkland told him they did something's with their fingers then a hand shake and minutes after Kirkland was driving away.
