On new year's Eve Kirkland drove his mother to st George 's home for the age she was visiting a church sister but they first played a small visit to Mrs cassidy the nurse had told her she has visitors her head came up when they did Rose look from Kirkland to Hella as if felt their relations
"Hi Rose " Hella said taking a chair and sat close to her "do you remember my son Kirkland ?"Hella ask Kirkland was stooping in front of her holding her hand and she just stear's at him for a while Hella went to make her visit leaving Kirkland with Rose he ask the nurse if it would be OK to take her for a walk when he mention walk she look up he got the go a head he knowtist her scarf on her lap wrapped it around her neck removed her bedside slippers replaced them with a nice leather that was soft inside he could see Kerry allover it for she like to buy these kind of fancyy things he offer his hand by reaching out to her and she just got up and take it.
Nurse smile nodding to Kirkland " wonderful Mrs cassidy "the nurse said "that a big step" turning to Kirkland you must be an Angel her girls have been trying to get her out that chair ,you are to come more often"the nurse explain "it's not that she doesn't love her girls but she seems more hurt when they came so we ask them to space their visit " Kirkland nod in understanding "anyway take her for that walk" Kirkland held Mrs cassidy close to him by placing one hand under her arm and the other use to cover her palm they were walking away when the nurse called "sir " she said Kirkland turn a round are you family ?"
"No ,just friend of her daughter"
The nurse nod and watch with a smile as they walk away together
Kirkland walk Mrs cassidy on the outside he felt her shiver as the cool afternoon air touch her skin she haven't been on the outside since the day they brought her in here she hardly even left her chair today was a day Kirkland wish he had brought her camera with him he just can't believe he left it at home he remember it when he already left the house thinking it didn't make sense to go back and get it but now he wish he had gone back to get .
Kerry have forgotten she didn't open her gift from Kirkland and did so to find a sexy pair of red underwear she wasn't going out but it was new year's eve it wouldn't hurt to look sexy for herself  she shower and change in something more comfortable perfume herself power her face brush her hair brush her teeth ,kirky was already asleep she check on him one more time before going downstairs she got to the living room and turn on the TV to watch the countdown before sitting down she make a cheese sandwich call her sister she was home alone for mark was at work they talk for a good time before hanging up she turn the lights out went back  to the living room and  stretch out on the couch.
Kirkland sat with jake on the rail of his  upstairs balcony both looking up on the night sky admiring the star the sky was always this beautiful on a new years eve and it was something to marvel about. "If I look up and marvel this much imagine god who created it" Kirkland said with a smile
"It is really something ah?" Jake admit "some people still doesn't believe there's a god"
"Who cares what any one think ,i know there's a god look at all the beautiful things he created" Kirkland said
"Like Kerry?" Jake tease
"Really man! Kerry came in to this how?" Kirkland ask Jake laugh
"Can't believe we're home on a new years eve"
"You're with your wife"
"Yeah" Jake said with a smile "best is yet to come "
"Sounds like you have plans let me not keep you"
"If I could hang with you I would,we're still good right?" Jake ask
Kirkland nod "yeah " he extend his arm and they shake on it.they came down Kirkland hug Monica wishing her a happy new year she thank him wish him the same in return telling him happy birthday when it becomes midnight
"Thanks "
She rub his cheek "I love you"
"I know, I love you they smile at each other said good bye Jake walk him outside he got in his car starts the engine but lean back his head on the seat Jake lean against the car.
" I don't think I want to go home just yet "Kirkland said Jake look at him
" i could stay up late and do something fun"
Jake pull a pack of condoms out his pocket and gave them to him.
"What's these for,your wife knows that you're walking around town with these ?" Kirkland ask
"She gave them to me but I don't need them I've never been in the position where I find myself wanting someone else other from my life wife"

Kerry was still in front the TV at some minutes to midnight when the door knock getting up to answer it she open the door and saw Kirkland standing there she felt her blood got warm,he smile at her "its not midnight yet is it,ain't you going to ask me in you want the new year to catch me standing out your door?" He ask Kerry step aside he walk in "your son asleep?"
"Yeah "Kerry answer
" will he be up for the night?"
"Kirky was use to sleeping in through the night Kerry knew he wouldn't get up unless she woke him she thought maybe he wanted to see him " he won't she told him
"Good" he said wrapping his arms around her she shake him away
"Stop it now" Kerry warn.
"Kerry I'm not playing" he told her with a warning finger, pulling her close again "I want to have you " she looked up in his face trying to conferm what he  had just said he nod "you heard right "he  said holding her face up to his   so it was  up close  he kiss her lightly at first on the peek of her  cheek working his way to her lips sticking his tongue in her mouth moving it around the roof of her mouth causing it to tickle,

Kirkland step away from her laughing,
"Nonsense" he said sitting on the couch pulling her on top of him Kerry jump up for she was afraid of what might happen and was afraid to go through with it , but he wasn't giving her the chance to back out for he was up again pulling her back in his arms and then she remember's what mark had said with a smile,she really would like to be love it would be the second time this time and as the first time it was with Kirkland  she heard his voice coming through her thoughts,

Yes she did it was the one thing she never been short of for she use it to bake but she wasn't really a regular baker she got up and get it for him and put the bottle of grape juice on the table he make it strong enough to burn his throat when he sallow after a few he got up pulling her with him

"Kirkland it's three thirty in the morning don't you want to sleep?she ask when they were back in the room " by the way happy birthday "thanks" he smile she let go his hand went to her chest of drawers to take out something it wasn't gift wrapped just in a nice bag and hand it to him he open it a brand-new instant camera fully loaded and two roll's of films he kiss her the first picture was of her naked body laying on the bed her legs close and bent at the knee her head up and her short curls barely leaving her head he took a bother he caught her with her legs open as she was turning "my you're lovely" he told her climbing on top of her he was careful that the camera didn't fall as he reaches over to put it on the bedside table but he didn't want to loose the position in which he have her.

Kirkland lift his head smiling at her"we re still best friends right? "He ask
Kerry nod and he came up to kiss her he then smile

Kerry lift his head to look at him ,
" I'm curses I sleep with a married man now I will never get married.
Kirkland's laughter echoed through the room he roll from her laying on his back he raise his head look at her and laugh again
Kerry didn't see what he find so funny she heard him took a deep breath roll on his belly he lay silent and when Kerry look over his eyes were close she believe he had fallen fast asleep,but he just close  his eyes  soaking in his memories
and his thought's ,Kerry got up and went to  take a shower when she came out she find kirky standing by the bed leaning his head on the bed his face close to  Kirkland's looking him in the face
"Honey" she called to him holding his hand so she could get him out the room but he pulled away moving closer to Kirkland "I want to stay with daddy " Kerry pulled him again but he cry out "mom stop" she let go his hand and he put them both behind him  so she couldn't  touch them she tried barging with him ,telling him what she was making  for him but he turn away from her to rest his head  back where it  was in Kirkland's face and Kerry could do nothing to move him."Kerry"Kirkland called to her "its OK let the boy stay " he said turning his head from one side to the next his eyes were still close when he speak to her,Kerry thought he was sleeping embarrassment clouds her when he open his eyes she couldn't look at him
"Its OK " he said to kirky getting up to lift him on the bed next to him."what are you worrying about Kerry its me your best friend all is good"he reach out to touch her and the way she felt make tear fill her eyes and she ran out sobbing like a baby Kirkland later find her down stairs sitting on the floor her knees up and her face rest between
"Want to talk about it he ask sitting besides her she shook her head he hug her to him and she rest her head on his shoulder she wish she could tell him that he really was kirky's father but he would hate her for taking advantage of him and moreover she tell him a lie she told him nothing happened he would say she's a liar
" Kerry I love you you're my best friend we can work it out I promise she look at him knowing it will never work out, because of what she did her best friend and the man she spend all these years secretly loving was going to hate her and never want to see her ever again.
