Chapter Nine

Chapter Nine 

Jake's Pov 

"Hey, kids time for lunch burgers are off the grill and Emma is here" my dad, Billy informed me and Bella the girl I have liked since I was a kid. 

Emma is I believe Charlie's youngest kid and Bella's sister but I don't think any of them are very close. She’s also the girl I imprinted on last night.

Following my father into the house I see Emma "Alright Emma, Jake, Bella let's dig in,” I hear my father say as he walks over to the table.

"Hi" she greets fidgeting with her fingers after we make eye contact. She looks so familiar but I just can't remember where I've seen her well other than last night and since I didn’t imprint on her until last night we clearly had never made eye contact.

"Hey guys I'm really sorry but my dad just called asking me home" Bella announced, pulling me out of my thoughts, before giving me a hug and leaving. 

"Alright let's get eating,"  I say as I clap and rub my hands together.

Emma's pov 

"Thanks for inviting me over but I should get going I have work in about half an hour," I say kindly 

"I'll walk you out," Jake says with a smile. I wave goodbye to Billy and walk with Jake over to my truck and let out a sigh when I see 'MURDER' on the side. 

"Who did that?" He asked me walking ahead of me and over to the truck "um earlier when I went to the store some teens from the high school accused me of killing mike" I told him honestly failing to met his eyes. 

"So that's why you look familiar," he said quietly "yea thanks for helping me out that night though" I replied looking at him but still refusing to meet eye contact and got into the driver's side without saying goodbye starting my drive to the diner.

It's small and doesn't get a lot of business due to the other diner in forks but id rather be a waitress now that I talk than be stuck at home in my thoughts. 

Parking I head into the store and see Adina serving Greg and his two young daughters (they come here all the time). She is my ex-girlfriend but her and I ended on good terms. We just tend to fight a lot now. 

Going into the kitchen I pass Jr who is the chief and send him a wave before I go and put my wallet and things into my locker that's in a small room. 

I put on my waist apron and head back into the seating area and find Adina at the register waiting. 

"Hey what's up" I greet her "At nothing, we have been extremely slow today. Where were you this morning?" She said/ asked me "Cameron has been stressed lately so I helped him with some things" I lied.

Before she could respond the bell went off meaning someone had entered the diner. 

"Take a seat and I'll be with you in a bit," I said not paying attention "Hey murder girl I didn't know you worked here," a deep familiar voice said causing me to look up. 

It was one of the guys from the store earlier today and now that i seeing him again I believe he is part of the Lahote family.

He is with an older guy maybe around the age of 20 and another whose face I couldn't see as he was on his phone. 

"What not gonna defend yourself this time?" He taunted I just walked away but before I did I saw the guy in his 20's nudged him in the side.
