I pushed my glasses up on my face as I stared at the mathematical equations in my book .

" what are you still doing up shaybay ?" My mom said interrupting the music I was listening to .

" mama don't call me that please , and because I'v been up trying to study for my algebra test in the morning but the same equation keeps tripping me up " I said getting up to restart my music .

" that's what's wrong you need you some sleep at this rate you bouta be up till you gotta go to school " she said leaning against the entrance of my room .

" ok mama I'm gone try to get some sleep but I gotta finish this work first " I said sitting back down and placing my algebra text book in my lap .

" urmm ok shay but you need some rest it else you ain't bouta' be able to function during that exam tomorrow " she said with her New Orleans accent thickening .

" I know I know mama I'm going to after this last problem , goodnight I love you " I said blowing a kiss to her .

" goodnight shay and love you to and don't forget to wake your brother up I'm the morning " she said after cutting off the dim light in the hallway and heading to her room .

" damn , what could dis answer possibly be ? " I said pushing up my glasses and taking a pencil out of my red , and pink pencil bag ; I started to work out the equation until I finally found the answer I looked over at the clock disappointed because it read 3:09 so that means I'm getting three hours of sleep if I go to bed right now .

So I put my textbook in my overly crowded backpack and tossed out it by my door , then I took of my big black rimmed glasses and set them on my nightstand and cut off my lamp then I pulled my purple cotton cover over me and drifted off to sleep .

" damn " I cursed under my breath and looked at the clock I feel like I didn't get any rest last night and I can't be late to school I was supposed to be up at 5:45 and it's 6:00 now I have to get my brother up for school .

" T , wake up " I said shaking him lightly

" damn , what you want shay ? "he said brushing my hand .

" mama told me to get you up fa school , so you either get up or you walk cause mama have to go to work so wake up now " I said getting irritated .

" five more minutes ? " he pulled the cover off showing all of his tattoos .

" no , you need to be up that's why you need to go to sleep earlier cause you never wanna get up " I said walking back to my room to get my glasses I got my school clothes and glasses and went to the bathroom to take a quick shower I pulled my sleeping t-shirt gown over my head and set my clothes and glasses on the sink ;
