Me and Reggie been sitting up talking nothing to major .

" yeah girl then rashad gone tell ms. Arnold to shut the fuck up " Reggie said bursting out in laughter .

I started laughing to because she has something new to tell me every other day .

" wait shhhh .... " I turned off my lights and peeked out the window .

" what ya doing shay ? " reg climbed across the bed as she whispered .

" you hear that bruh ? " I said watching sprinkling rain turn into heavy droplets .

" hea what shay ? " reg said getting kind of paranoid .

" it's about to storm , and they aren't back yet ." I said plugging my phone back into the wall .

" so , what that mean ? "

" you know what this mean reg , every time it's storm it goes up around here and now August and T gone be out here in it "

I got nervous so I started pacing back and fourth in my room listening to the faint voices of people outside .

" shay calm down I don't really know t like that but I know he candle his own and I know August can they will be fine " reg shined her phone light near me to see if I was ok them proceeded to texting whoever she was talking to .

While try was in my room I walked into the hallway and opened the small storage closet and grabbed candles just in case the power went out , I shut the closet door then walked into T's room and got a lighter . Then I went back to my room andante started lighting each candle one by one , just as I was about to get up and start placing them around the house shots rang echoing through the neighborhood..........

I sat on the floor I'm silence until I felt like the shots were done being fired .

" shay , you good bruh ? " reg days sitting down beside me on the floor .

" I just don't wanna lose T the same way we lost Xavier" ( younger brother that got hit by a stray bullet)

" babygir , listen T is coming home I know everytime it storm it's gets crazy around here but he's coming back I know " she said pulling me into a side hug .

As it continued to rain outside lightning , and thunder followed with it making the neighborhood black out and forcing people to find candles of whatever could provide light .

" Reg , what if your wrong about T coming back ? " I said trying to ease sadness from my voice .

" I'm not , I know for a fact he's going to be okay even I were wrong I would still be here for you bruh just know that . "

As soon as it started to calm down ; me and reg heard tires screech and gunshots pouring out from whatever car was heading down the block we moved scooted the candles out the way and laid down as close to the floor as we could get .

It was still pouring down rain and nobody heard from August nor T I'm worried even more than I was before because they've been gone for a long time , and it wasnt helping that T's phone kept going to voicemail and neither me or reg had a phone to reach August on .

I closed my door quietly because sitting up alone was scaring me reg got tired and fell asleep on the floor , but I'm not sleeping until T comes home safe I said I was mad at him but I could save that for another time I just want him to come home safely .

I sat in front of my bed facing the door the more I thought about Xavier's innocent face made me think about how I would live without T and that's something I can't do I know all of this shouldn't be going through my head but it's too much for me not to cry and just as I was thinking that warm tears started falling like the rain outside hitting the pavement but instead of my tears hitting the pavement they were hitting my knees .

I heard one of the doors open but I'm not sure which one on top of me crying this didn't make me feel any better and the footsteps were coming harder down the hallway and quickly approaching my room just as the person got closer to my room the footsteps stop but they weren't alone because I heard another set approaching but then also stopped as they got closer to my door , the person twisted the knob slowly , and then opened it fully .......................

" T " I ran up to him grabbing his shirt and letting my tears hit his white t-shirt I don't care how much pain I'm in fight now this is all I wanted was to hand my brother back .

" shhhhhhh ..... It's ok just stop crying ; y'all aight ? The neighbors told me somebody cake through and sprayed round ' here .

" me and reg fine , I just thought I lost you this time .

" why you say that shay ? " he said using his finger to dry one of my tears .

" because , we lost Xavier T I just didn't want you to be the next one I gotta live without I wouldn't be able to handle all this stuff around here without you promise me you won't ever leave " I said crying harder than before .

" don't ever think that what happened to him is going to happen to him is going to happen to me you understand that ? He was a innocent lil boy he didn't know how to react , I'm grown as hell well almost shay listen imma protect myself just like I protect you . " T wrapped his arms around my back pulling me into a closer hug " I love you shay your my little sister I would never leave you ."

" I love you to T " I said taking deep breaths trying to calm myself down .

" your buffalo wings on the table , me and August about go chill in my room ."

" wait , can you pick reg up and take her to lay I'm the guest room ?" I said fixing my ponytail .

" yeah " he walked around the bed and picked reg off the floor bridal style and her ass opened one eye and said " oh you so damn fine " I shook my head and waited for T to reappear but got now its just August standing in my doorway and is making eye contact with the little light I do have in my room .

" you ok ma ? " August said as he leaned his back against the doorway of my room .

" yeah I guess I'm fine now " I said planting qmy feet on the ground .

" I'm glad you aight we didn't mean to leave y'all i shouldn't have took him to my house ."

" shhh , it's okay August you didn't know nun of this was gonna happen ."

" I know but I feel kina guilty for makin' come ."

" like I said you said you ain't know so don't sweat it " I said walking closer to him

" I-I - I was just saying " he said biting his lip and rubbing the back of his neck , I could tell he was kind of nervous .

" I know , but it's ok " I said squinting because I still couldn't see well with out my glasses .

" ya know , I um you bad as hell ma " he said just inches away from my face .

I didn't know what to do so I just stayed silent he wrapped his arms around my waist

And whispered " you couldn't handle me ma "

And with that he walked away .
