Chapter 21

Turns out Grim's new place did have a down side, it was right above Claptrap's house.

Claptrap was often at his house, but I was hardly ever home and Claptrap still roamed around a lot.

It was almost the end of the day when Zero walked to Grim's place and yelled from the ground, "hey, I'm going to go to the bar, would you like to go with?" Grim looked down at him and said, "give me a minute, I'm putting away all my stuff." Usually, Grim only carried a pistol around with her in Sanctuary so if something were to happen she wouldn't be completely unarmed.

After a minute or so of frantically stuffing things in the only available spots, Grim climbed down while saying, "sorry to keep you waiting, all my equipment is pretty space consuming and I usually only carry a pistol ari und town." Zero nodded and said, "lets go, also one more . . .one more thing" she said, "what's up?" He said, "don't tell anyone what I look like, I know you saw, lets just act like it never happened." Grim nodded at his request and they started walking to the bar.

They walked in and saw the usual scene, Axton drunk off his mind, Sal slowly sipping at a beer,  Maya and Krieg talking in one of the booths, and Gaige gambling.

Zero grabbed Grim's hand and led her to the two bar stools they usually sit at. Grim had a few drinks while her and Zero talked. Axton eventually passed out and Deathtrap carried him home once again as Gaige followed suit.

Moxxi said quietly to Grim, "maybe you can get Zero over here to have a beer, he looks like he could use one. Just put these in his house, sugar." She handed Grim a six pack of rakkale.  Moxxi continued, "once it's done, come on back, I might as well pay you for being such a doll." Grim grabbed the box and looked over at Zero, who was staring in another direction, not bothering to listen to the girls' conversation. She slowly slipped off of the bar stool and walked out of the bar. She jogged over to his house and struggled to get up onto the roof.

She finally did it and set the rakkale in the corner near his bed. She was about to leave when Zero sneaked up on Grim. He put his hands on her hips and pulled her against his chest. He quietly said, "what are you doing here? Didn't Lilith get you a house?" Grim started, "I-I-I was, uh, told t-to put some, uh, rakkale in your h-h-house" Zero squeezed her hips closer to his and asked, "by who, Grim? Who?" She stuttered out, "M-M-Moxxi" Zero responded, "good. Now, how about we go back to the bar?" Grim barely opened her mouth to reply when Zero picked her up and threw her over his shoulder and began walking to the bar.

Grim's attempts to free herself failed so she decided to just go limp and wait for him to put her down.

They walked in and Moxxi whispered under her breath, "oh no" Zero walked to where they were sitting earlier and put Grim on a bar stool. She immediately tried to run but Zero caught her and pulled her back into the stool. Zero said, "why'd you tell her to / sneak into my home, Moxxi? / I don't need your booze." Moxxi responded with, "you just seem so uptight, and I thought you'd like them." Zero chuckled and picked Grim back up and walked out of the bar. Moxxi signaled for Gaige, who was the only sober one in the bar besides Moxxi, and said, "follow them, make sure nothing happens to Grim." Gaige responded, "why do I have to do it?" Moxxi said, "because you're the only sober person in MY bar!" Gaige mumbled something under her breath and walked out the door, following Zero and Grim.

Gaige followed Grim and Zero to Grim's house, so she stood idly by hiding. They were just sitting there staring at each other. Gaige mumbled, "this is a waste of my time, I was totally beating that guy in a poker match!" She paused and continued, "like he will ever have the balls to kill her. I'm out!" She finally wandered back to the bar. Once she arrived she told Moxxi about then just sitting there. Moxxi replied, "oh well, I guess Grim will be fine." She paused to take a breath and just as Gaige turned away she added, "oh, by the way, the man you were gambling with took his leave." Gaige yelled, "then you owe me a thousand bucks!"

(Back at Grim's house)

"Okay, Gaige left." Zero said. Grim said, "you got six free beers, I wouldn't be mad if just were you. Rakkale is expensive lately." Zero responded, "I'm not mad, if anything I'm happy." She asked, "then why'd you pick me up?" He shrugged and answered, "just because" Grim punched the talk man's arm and mumbled, "you're an asshole." Zero rose from his chair and walked over to Grim, who was sitting on her table, and placed his hands on her knees and pushed down. He asked in a low tone, "what was that, Grim?" The siren puffed out her chest and said, "I said you're an asshole!" Zero stepped back a bit and looked down.
